just got IntelliPap auto adjust
I have had two nights on my new machine - auto is set 6 - 12, cpap mode is 10. This is new to me as old machine was cpap mode only at pressure of 10. I think it will be ok, just getting used to it and figuring out how to get the data, etc. Didn't get the software yet as this would be overload for me! I'm not great at technical anything. I used it last night on cpap mode, 10 pressure which is I've been on and what sleep study confirmed. I was surprised to see the AHI as 3.0. I know that is under 5 but in the sleep study and in home download (with a loaner), my AHI has always been much lower. The first night, I used it on auto but I think I was too nervous and it seemed I didn't sleep well at all. I'll try it again on auto but I was surprised at the AHI of 3 last night.

HPM--
I hope the APAP works well for you and keeps the AHI even lower than the CPAP. I am looking forward to getting my machine with auto adjust and data collection just so I can confirm it is "working"
Good luck to you!

Different brands score AHI differently. Sometimes different models of the same brand score AHI differently too.
Don't beat yourself up over the AHI, relax and enjoy your new machine

Re: just got IntelliPap auto adjust
Did you get your AHI from the Smart Codes or the software, Smart Link? The web based smart codes give you a 'big picture' view whereas the software will give you more detailed data. Your AHI is good, and I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you aren't feeling good. My AHI is almost always 1.5 or below on my IP, but it took a bit of tweaking of the range, Flex settings, and, of course, getting the mask situated to achieve that.
If you need the clinician's manual let me know... I also have a quick start guide I put together for anyone getting started with the software. PM me if you need either one or both.

Re: just got IntelliPap auto adjust
Congrats! Our Intellipap group is growing! It seems the Intellipap AHI tend to run higher then other machines. I average about 3.0 never been lower then 1.5. I am not sure anyone on this forum has gotten a less the a 1 on an Intellipap
Re: just got IntelliPap auto adjust
My info is from Smart Code, as I haven't bought the smart link yet. I went the host site and typed in my code from this morning to get the report. I agree, I need to tweak things - it seems as though the flex setting I did - 2 - is very generous-more than a 2 that I used on the loaner machine - an older PR remstar m series. And I'm not quite sure of the rounding thing yet. I have it on 3. Also, I'm not used to being on auto - having a range. I seemed to have more trouble the night I used it on that - 6-12 as prescribed by dr. I think I had some snoring during the night.Emilia wrote:Did you get your AHI from the Smart Codes or the software, Smart Link? When I ordered the machine, they sent me the clinicians stuff by email - its 2 pages or so, not a manual. Thanks to the other posters for the welcome!

Re: just got IntelliPap auto adjust
FYI: I have had quite a few nights below 1.0, and I seem to be having more of those lately. My lowest AHI has been 0.3!
I had a lot of snores when I started, and I found that small adjustments of the lower end pressure got rid of those for me. Try inching up by .5 adjustment and see if that helps.

Re: just got IntelliPap auto adjust
that's been my experience, 2.0 on M series CPAP, and hovering 2.0 to 3.5 on the Intellipap. however, in the settings for AHI definitians (refering to that 2 page clinicians manual) Ive been told the default definitions are the same for the 2 machines. (eg Apnea, 10% flow reduction for 12 secs) how they actually measure events to match those definitions might be another matter.
in the end its the lowest AHI vs best sleep vs how you feel. (and the pulse oxygen data doesnt hurt). Im half blind without the graphs and details that the Smartlink software will provide.

Re: just got IntelliPap auto adjust
Okie dokie - I so much appreciate being able to benefit from everyone's knowledge and experience. Last nights AHI was a 2 - a point better than previous night. I changed the smart flex to 1 and it still felt very comfortable. Didn't change the rounding - both are at 3. Still using in CPAP mode at 10. I will start using the auto mode again but after using straight CPAP for 5 years, this will take "adjusting to" on my part and possibly raising the lower limit and other tweaks as emilia said. Current range is 6 - 12.
Questions about navigating the menu: According to booklet instructions, the advanced menu can only be accessed when device is ON ?? See page 13. That seems weird to me or maybe I'm missing something (very possible!). This means I have to put on the mask and my glasses.

Re: just got IntelliPap auto adjust
No, no - it means the machine has to be 'ON' vs not so... it does not mean it has to be actually set up to use it, just that it be connected (or otherwise, how would you adjust it?).
Re: just got IntelliPap auto adjust
THe only way I can get to the advanced menu and the enable menu is to do it while device is blowing (by pressing the on/off button). Otherwise, while it is off (screen says OFF), using the right/left arrows, all I can go to is the "Blower Off menu" as mentioned on page 18 - serial #, adherance, Smart Code, QuickView menu (AHI,leak info, usage, etc).

Re: just got IntelliPap auto adjust
Yes, you need to have the machine ON to configure the settings. Annoying that it is blowing, but it won't register that time on the data since you are in clinician's mode.

Re: just got IntelliPap auto adjust
Thanks, Emilia. Now I know I'm not crazy! I had wondered about how the blowing affects data so thanks for that info as well.
One more question - in the morning when I get the smart code, if I'm remembering correctly, it appears when I turn off machine. When I type it in to generate a report, I get an error. If I go back to retrieve the code, the last grouping of characters is changed a little and that code works.

Hmmmm.... don't know much about the codes as I only used them for about 3 days a year ago. If you can get the software soon, you will have much more detailed information on which to base any changes to your therapy.

I noticed, too, that when I reviewed my daily information each morning, it seemed off and would change as I scrolled through the data. When I type it in to generate a report, I get an error. If I go back to retrieve the code, the last grouping of characters is changed a little and that code works.
Devillbiss Tech Support confirmed that there is a bug in their firmware and to get the correct information , press the left arrow key and scroll through the 1 Day,7,30, etc. data and it should be correct.
(I just started using the Smartlink module two days ago and it really supplements the smartcodes and reports!)
