I think the default settings aren't the sensible patient option - it might be ResMed and not your DME who are responsible for making them unavailable.

Well DARN !!!!!
I have been lowering the EPR each night and thought I was making progress. But last night EPR was completely off and this was happening as bad as ever. It is hard to narrow down or replicate consciously, although it seems to only occur on exhale, sometimes twice in the same breath. It is like the mask is quickly emptying then filling causing it to jump on my face. I have no anxieties over wearing the mask, no leaks, nor am I breathing oddly. This does not happen all through the night but when it does it keeps me from getting to sleep or wakes me up.

This is a long shot but is it possible that the electrical outlet your cpap is plugged into is wonky? If voltage arriving at that outlet is not consistent it might cause machine to "hiccup" electrically... if it were the case it wouldn't be good for the machine.

You could connect your cpap to an extension cord and plug to a different outlet or test with a lamp (remove cpap plug from that outlet and plug in lamp) to see if light bulb dims at all over time. If there were a draw in the house like your A/C or furnace starting (or electric heat), if wiring were old I could imagine it might cause a fluctuation in voltage to outlets (depending if you have fuses or circuit breakers). Though this should happen during the day as well if it were the case.

Just a thought... (grasping at straws)

I have the same mask as yours and mine does make a funny noise at times. When I first turn my machine on, it will send the blast of air down the tube and I will hear and feel this WHAP sound in my mask. Also I notice if I exhale kind of fast it will do the same thing but a couple times in a row. I'm pretty sure it's normal on my end causing it with the air pressures. However I have never noticed it while I was sleeping as it is very distracting and would probably wake me up. It also doesn't really move my mask around but it's definitely noticeable. Not sure if this is the same thing happening to you or not. Perhaps your valve on the mask needs replacing or is bad is the only suggestion I can think of if it's happening a lot.

I love Jeopardy but it totally STRESSES me out when there's a category I don't know much about like Greek mythology (somehow, my education missed that topic, but thanks to Percy Jackson books my 10 year old ACES that category) or sports.
@ Jan

Those categories that stress you out are the exact same ones that make me sleepy - it's wayyyyyy too much for my sleep brain to try and figure out stuff I know zip about so just let those wash over me, hoping some of the facts trickle in to my semi-conscious mind...

cheers,
xena
