See where it says "AutoSet II" in this image? What does yours say?

That would be it. I now have the software, & not sure if there is anything else I needed to start using it.

Thanks lots.

Hi - 8 to 12 makes perfect sense as settings for an awful lot of us... 4 does not as it's just the low part (20 being the high part) of machine default settings, but no one is normally prescribed 4 (and rarely 20) to breathe at all night, let alone as useful therapy. You need to get these things sorted out and need to determine if you're on a straight Cpap setting or Apap, but apap at 4 to 8 makes very little sense at all - I think something got missed out either in the explanation you were given or how it was received...

If you have the S8 AutoSet II it will have a smart card in the machine that looks like this.
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... -card.html
If this is the case then you need one of these before you can get the software to work.
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... -cpap.html Very hard to find.

The S9 Autoset uses a little SD card (like what you might have in a camera) and does not need a card reader if the computer has a SD slot.

I am on the auto, I don't know exactly why my old Doctor lowered it like that. The new Doc says that it will be going back to the 8-12 after Sept 13..He is seeing me earlier.Let me know if I need to be more specific, slowly getting used to the use of the forum, & thank you all.

Hard to find. I have seen some on EBay and seller were in China and Israel. I haven't looked lately.
The S8 machines were discontinued so most of the US suppliers didn't by more S8 or the stuff that went with them.

You do have data on the machine's LED screen though. The clinician manual for the S8 AutoSet II will tell you what and how to get to it or someone familiar with the machine can help. I don't use ResMed machine so other than pointing you to the stuff that is needed to use the software, I am not much help. So sorry.

The card reader seems to be running around $100 when I saw them. Some DMEs might have some on the shelf gathering dust but they won't often part with them because we aren't supposed to be smart enough to understand the software.

The S8 has enough data on it to give you a pretty good idea what is going on once you understand it. You won't see the graphs that the software offers but other than that you aren't missing much. The terms and relationship will be a bit of learning curve but not impossible by any means to get a grasp on.

BTW I also am in agreement with the others about the 4 cm starting point. Even my titration study was done starting at 5 cm and I felt that pressure was barely adequate enough to feel comfortable with air movement. Any less and I would feel awfully stifled also.

Your machine is not obsolete. Just last years model or so... It still will provide considerable data on screen and provide very good therapy once you get a handle on things. There are older models with much less data (or no data) available still being used. A couple of years ago it was the top of the line. You can still get the card reader... it is just very hard to find and thus very pricey. Something to maybe think about later but not having the software isn't a deal breaker... just means you have to do a bit more work figuring out what the one screen data means.

You are right. I talked to cpap.com, & they told me why they don't sell them anymore & I just think it is messed up. I just don't like buying things from across waters in case I needed to interact with the seller on the net or by phone. Maybe on the 13th I might have a better go with the sleep situation, but one day at a time is what I keep telling myself. I will keep looking for a reader if the doc keeps me on the s8.

You might put up a new thread with a subject line for an S8 Card Reader... someone may have an old one lying around at home from a previous machine that will sell or give to you. If not, try ebay....

I will leave it to ResMed users to help you now.... I know nothing about them other than the general info I gave you earlier. Good luck!!

Ebay sellers are in Israel. I think that is also where the ioffer seller is. When it says "I ship to the United States" probably means outside US.
No used ones on Ebay though I have seen some but none now. I just looked.
