Your doctor may not see your current machine as the 'wrong' one. I would tell him how you feel like you are fighting the machine and that you have talked with 2 people with asthma who do much better on a bi-level and ask if that might help your problems.'

My sleep doc is very good and he didn't think a bi-level would help but since it wouldn't hurt he was willing to write a prescription for one. He was also delighted when the bi-level worked so well.

You also haven't mentioned what your prescribed pressure is or if you are using the ramp feature - both can make a big difference.

The prescibed pressure was 8, Doctor brought it down to 4, & now they are going to put it back to 8, no ramp at this time.

I couldn't breathe at 4 when that was the starting pressure for ramp on cpap. Hopefully 8 will work better. Let us know how things go with the pressure change.

Kaiya... you are clearly very sleep deprived. Your AHI is outrageously high, and we can help you to make some adjustments, but you must FOCUS on our questions and answer them, please. If you have problems doing that, ask a friend, partner, spouse, neighbor to help you navigate this learning curve.

1. Do you have the software installed on your computer?
2. Do you have the appropriate card reader for your data card?
3. You can download the clinician's manual for your machine here: http://www.apneaboard.com/CPAP%20Adjustment.htm You'll need to scroll down to find your machine listed, and you will need to email the site admin to request a link be sent to you to download the booklet.
4. What are your pressure settings?? Do you know?
5. Do you have a copy of your sleep study and Rx? If not, request those (you may need to pay for copies)...you are entitled to have them as part of your medical records.

EDIT: As I was about to publish, I saw your new post. Your Doctor is a crazy person.... no one can breathe at 4!! No wonder you are suffering. 8 will be better, but based on what? Are they reading your data card to determine this?

One more thing...... you have an Autoset machine from what you've chosen to show. But you must be using it in straight cpap mode if you only have a set pressure of 8. Auto provides a pressure range, for example 7-12 in which your machine can respond to your events and needs as necessary. If we knew what pressure you were titrated at, we could gauge a range for you to use.

No software, I misunderstood, sorry. All I know so far is that they are getting the info off the card, & yes I am suffering from no real sleep. Range is suppose to be 4-8. It is suppose to be auto. but talking with others I am not so sure. I think I am scatter brained from this whole sleep issue, so please be patient with me.

Thanks

Look for UncleBob he can tell you where to get the manual.
4 is hardly therapy. Ramp starts at 4. It is hard for many people to breathe at 4.

Get full control of your machine and start increasing your pressure a small measure every few days so you can get used to it a bit at the time.

I already gave you the link to get the manual.... Uncle_Bob doesn't list the manual for your machine, but you can download the software for your computer from the link under his signature here: memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=38643

Thank you Emilia, I am asking for the emailed version for my machine. I did the resmed download from UncleBob. Is there anything else I need to start taking initiative?

Ok I see some has answered

Make sure you have the right name - the machine you listed is an autoset but you are talking as if it is set as a cpap machine.

By the way, the data card in your machine is not an "SD" card, it's a "smart" card. Emilia's advice is correct except for the terminology.

Thank you
Look on and under the machine (remove humidifier first!!)
One way is to get the manual and try to get into the system and adjust it.
Note - before you change settings write them all down.
