Bad Mask Day (reassembling, that is)

Post by NightHawkeye » Tue Jan 24, 2006 10:38 am

After cleaning my Ultra Mirage daily for nearly a month now, you'd think it would get easy to put the pieces back together. Some days it is, but the last couple of days the cushion just hasn't fit on the frame without needing to be redone a couple of times to avoid crumpling the cushion sealing membrane. Every time I think I have the technique right, I'm still off.

Anybody else have this problem? It's not really a big deal, just that I think I'm gonna spend a couple of minutes putting it back together and it ends up taking ten.

Regards,
Bill

I've read here in the past that a lot of people don't disassemble their masks to clean them. Just clean the surface that touches your face. The mask has much less potential for breakage or getting put back together incorrectly.

Here is a link to a thread on not disassembling the mask to clean it:

I'm one of the many who never takes a mask apart to clean it. Gently swiping the cushion surface with mild soap and lukewarm water is sufficient, imho. That can be done without disassembling the whole mask.

Hmm. . ., actually, I only remove the cushion for cleaning. . . pops right out. . . already decided I didn't want to disassemble the whole mask daily. . . didn't want to clean the cushion while still on the frame though. . .

Except for variable assembly time, the approach works OK and keeps the mask clean.

I'd kinda wondered how many folks actually cleaned their masks daily as per the instructions. . ., maybe not that many.
