I'm a brand new CPAP user. I was diagnosed with OSA around 2002 and had UPPP surgery. As most know by now, this isn't permanently effective in many patients. For me, it made a big difference, but over time my OSA came back and I finally got a machine.
I got the REMStar Auto A-Flex. I don't see this as a machine option on the user profile page. Is it known by another name?
Also, the whole reason I found this website was that want to get/build a battery for my CPAP for camping purposes. I found this post, viewtopic.php?p=449334#p449334 , and would like to know how people determine their power usage. I don't see any charts in my manual specifying the draw at various levels.
Thanks,
Dave.

Re: REMStar Auto A-Flex
Welcome to the forum, Dave. Hope your CPAP therapy goes great for you!
Your machine is there. If it's a Philips Respironics System One REMstar Auto with A-Flex...just scroll down a little way in the "Equipment" list to the machines with "PR" in front of their names.

I can't help with your battery question, but I'm sure someone will come along in your thread here and advise you.
While you're waiting for a specific answer, here's more in general than anyone could ever want to try to wade through...about batteries...

Thanks rested gal. I figured PR means Philips Respironics, but where does the "System One" come from?

Re: REMStar Auto A-Flex
I'm guessing that it's called System One as this is the first model that PR's put out... the older ones were just Respironics (without the Phillips).

Welcome
If you do a search for battery or camping on the forum you will get lots of threads on the subject. There are lots of different options, depending on what kind of "camping" you want to do. Without the humidifier on, your PR1 will draw about 2 to 3 amps. from a battery.
So for a 8 hour sleep night you will need approximately 24 amp/hour battery capacity per night.

Re: REMStar Auto A-Flex
Thanks...but that is kind of the problem. There are *too* many threads. For example, I've read that people are using jump starting rigs either with DC or AC through a built in inverter. Then I read someone in another thread saying this will wear the battery down too quickly because it is not a "deep-cycle" battery. So finding accurate up-to-date information in forum form is difficult and inefficient.physicsbob wrote:Welcome

I'm still learning the layout of this site and see there is a wiki section. It may be good to have a wiki on the subject that can be updated in-place so one doesn't have to read so much to get just a little bit of information.
Excellent. I was thinking of rigging an amp meter between my PR1 transformer and PR1 to make a direct measurement.physicsbob wrote: Without the humidifier on, your PR1 will draw about 2 to 3 amps. from a battery.

Of course, to complicate things, my prescription is 16-19 so even if I measure it accurately at 16, it can go up to 19 and I don't think there is a linear correlation between pressure setting and amps.

Re: REMStar Auto A-Flex
What kind of camping are you doing? Will there be power near by where you can recharge a battery. Get a battery and hook up an amp meter between your machine and the batteryand put your mask on and sit there watch the amp meter. Your machine will draw more amps when you inhale and less when you exhale. Two to three amps seams high to me, I would think about .5 amps with out your humidifier. If you are camping in one spot then you could look into a small battery and solar panels. Do a search on here fo 9 nights in the wilderness
