I need friends at this time, lots of problems
Re: I need friends at this time, lots of problems
You are probably allergic to many of the fillers used in meds not the active ingredients. I say this based on my own experiences. Many fillers now are "corn" and this can cause a problem in many.
Have you considered getting meds compounded at a special pharmacy where you can get them to use safe fillers?
What kind of diet do you have? How many processed foods? Any foods you avoid?

Have they tried you on a different version of the thyroid meds? There is a dessicated all natural version. Sometimes people are allergic to the preservative in the drugs rather then the drug them selves. But I am sure you know this.
Anyway, keep believing, it is a powerful drug, belief. And prayer can be very helpful in pain relief. PM me if you want more details on this.
Thanks so very much for your response,I need to clarify one thing though,I am on thyroid medicine every day, have been since 1990 when I had Graves Disease.
What happened on the 17th of February was when he told me he was going to up my thyroid medication he went out to the hall closet and got me some samples of Synthroid,I had been taking the generic of Levoxyl for many years.
Oh, if only I had refused them!!!
You are right though, prayer is a powerful medicine and I know that God is still on the throne.
Thanks so very much for caring!!!

What a time you are having!
Prayers on the way, and you are being added to others' prayers lists as well. (same groups have been praying for my mom as she contends with gastric cancer and surrounding treatments and surgery......and she is fairing quite well....THANK GOD!)
All the best, and know you are not totally alone with this....even when it feels as if you are.
Warm regards,

Thanks so much JAYC ,
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you putting me on your prayer list. I know that GOD is still on the throne and he won't let me down.He has worked so many miracles in my life already.
I wanted to let you know that my name is Betty, and I have asked every church that I know to please put me on their prayer list.
GOD BLESS YOU!

Janknitz wrote:Sister, I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. My mom had temporal arteritis. She had a lot of headaches and skeletal pain.
My understanding is that they do a biopsy on a very small segment of the artery and it is an outpatient procedure, not major surgery. Ask for more details to make sure you understand what you are saying yes or no to.
Hi Janknitz,
Thank you so much for the thoughts and prayers,I really need them.So sorry your mom had temperal arteritis, they are not sure that's what I have but I have all the symptoms. Unless a bx. is done, they won't know for sure.
yes, it is an outpt.procedure but the thought of someone cutting on my head again is really not to appealing to me right now,I had the UPPP surgery in 2007 and it was the worse pain I've ever had.
Each time I see the dr. I am prepared with a written down list of questions that I have studied from the internet.I also am a certified operating room technician so I pretty much know what to expect,I just really don't want to do it unless I have to.
I can't say enough that I really appreciate you and the people here that have the time to listen and care when someone needs you, thanks again.
GOD BLESS YOU!

Hi Jules,
As I said in another post I received a different thyroid medication that day from the one that I had been taking, that's what caused the severe allergic reaction.
I eat a very healthy diet to keep my cholesterol down, mostly fruits and vegetables.
Thanks for caring about me.
GOD BLESS YOU!

Youve done the right thing asking for help.
All of us on here have been forced into something that is frightening and beyond our own control,
and that is darn scary.
The fellowship of the group, and knowing how other people survive and overcome on a daily basis
can help get us through. Dont go through anything like this alone.
People who dont have apnea dont understand completely, we admit, but those who
do understand on a much deeper level.

You have my prayers, Sister, and I can empathize with you as I take many meds myself, one of which is Levothyroxine. Boy, it stinks when you get a change of medications a week or two prior to going away on vacation. This happened to me last year when we were 500 miles away from home - no fun having bad reactions. Hope you get things sorted out in a hurry and get some relief.

Hi sister,
I'm sorry you have to go through this.
Just to be clear: you are taking a medicine that you must have that causes an allergic (apparently nearly anaphylactic) reaction for which you are also taking prednisone to combat anaphylaxis on a continual basis, correct? Is there any chance it might be helpful to get a second opinion from another doctor fluent in drug reactions and hypersensitivies? I'm glad you're aware of the detrimental effects of long-dose prednisone.

Hi Dreamdiver
,
Yes, that's correct,I was told that I could have temporal arteritis (severe inflammation in the arteries going to the brain). They can't diagnose that for sure without going to out pt. surgery and taking out a piece of the artery to examine under a microscope.
I don't want to do that unless I absolutely have to so I chose to go ahead on prednisone for awhile.
hopefully I can start coming down on that in a few weeks.
The bad side is though the prednisone is making me sick,(terrible drug),my stomach is a rolling tornado all the time, nausea, and diarrhea, and absolutely no appetite. I know how important it is to eat so I have been doing all that I can in that department.
The bad thing is for the last 2 days I have been so sick with diarrhea, can't seem to sleep much at night for running to the bathroom.
Yes, I do have an allergy dr.who takes care of my allergies, but when this happened to me so fast I was rushed to the hosp.and admitted on an emergency basis and sent to my regular physican when I was discharged last sunday.
I will be calling my PCP first thing in the morning though, this has been a rough weekend.
Since this happened I have lost about 10lbs! 1month!
Hey, thanks so much for caring,it really helps.
MAY GOD BLESS YOU!

Re: I need friends at this time, lots of problems
Please please, be sure to stay hydrated. Diarrhea can be very tricky that way. I would stay away from soft-drinks and sweet stuff until it clears up if it were me. I would be sure to drink enough water. If you need to, don't think twice about going back to the hospital.
I'm glad you're getting in touch with your PCP. The sooner the better.

Re: I need friends at this time, lots of problems
Hi, I wanted to add that I have seen several posts in the past about taking your c-pap to the hospital with you if you ever had to go. I took mine just in case and I did wind up being admitted around 12a.m. that friday morning. Around 2 a.m. I told the nurse to please help me unpack my c-pap because I had sleep apnea.I couldn't do it because I had just had a lumbar puncture and couldn't raise my head for 8 hours.
She was so very nice to hook everything up for me and even went out and got me distilled water.
i didn't sleep any, I was so very sick but I was able to find out that they had no problems with me bringing my c-pap to the hosp. That was good news.
Just thought somebody might like to know.
GOD BLESS YOU !

Re: I need friends at this time, lots of problems
I send my prayers to God almighty in Christ Jesus for you on this day of reading your message.
You are healed because Christ paid the price for your healing - just believe and accept it to be so. As I write you I am also consoling myself as I too have been going thru a great deal of health issues and have recently learned it is called Polymalgia Rheumatica and apparently I have had it for several years and no doctor was aware of it until MOnday when I went to an RA doctor and she hit it on the button. Unfortunately it has progressed so that I too have to undergo agressive treatment with Prednisoe having no other choice. In between my tears I find courage to continue to endure knowing the all things work out the the whole of God's plan and he never leaves us or forsakes us.
In that I pray sister in Christ that we may both rest in the peace of Christ in our journey. God Bless......
