DeVilbiss Wants Your Input
Re: DeVilbiss Wants Your Input
I kinda agree w/you, M1aman, about the color, mp3 and clock. But, hey, we were asked what we would like to have. I never had a complaint about the hose off the front of the S8s or the top of the pre-M Series but I'm finding I sure do like the swivel hose attachment off the top of the PR S1s. On the other hand, my concern about that was, and still kinda is, (altho I've had NO PROBLEMS) how sturdy is it? How long will it hold up as compared to standard off the front, back or top???

Nice words of wisdom from Dixie!m1aman wrote:I am really disappointed in a lot of these replies. You guys want frivolous things like mp3 players, clocks, color screens etc. All of that will just be something else to break and will cost more.
Hose out the back is just fine with me. I don't need all of that other crap either. I hope you guys continue to make basic machines for the rest of us.

I would like to have a pulse oximeter that is fully functional apart from the machine, but whose data can be merged with that of the machine's so you can view when an event happened and see if the oxygen level drop occurred then. If the machine breaks down or is upgraded, the pulse oximeter could still be used independently or used with your newer model. Personally, I currently have the S9 and am looking at one of your machines as a travel backup. Every morning I look at the display for my number of hours slept and AHI. I like that I push one button and that information is readily accessible and I don't have to go through several menu screens to see that. It lets me know that I am still on target with my treatment. I think even machines without downloadable data should have those two items on the display.

Again - thanks for all your input. The March 11th date is a set deadline in our project timeline. All comments received on this post are being captured. We will then review and develop a survey to further refine your requirements and desires. The survey will be an electronic questionnaire, which I hope all of you will complete. The goal of all if this is to ensure we incorporate your input into our next generation device.

Just took delivery of an Intellipap Auto Adjust with Smart Flex this week. So far, it's living up to expectations and I'm happy with it. (I had to arm-wrestle my DME to order it for me. )
1. You may as well deliver the clinical manual with the machine. It's available on line from other sources.
2. I like the stack design, but I agree that a slanted display would be nice. The monocolor display works fine for me. (I didn't want this to be an entertainment center. ) I like the abillity to dim it down.
3. I also like the heated humidifier. The pull out reservoir is easy to access and refill.
4. The hose attachment location is inconvenient if you want to glance at the display.
5. I also purchased the Smart Link System. You really are stingy with information about setup and use of the software. Perhaps you could post more info on your homepage under support until you can prepare a better user manual.
6 Smart Code is nice but not very convenient. To copy the codes then go online to your smart code generator to get the data is a hassle. It'll satisfy my Insurer and DME, but I prefer the detail information and reports in Smart Link. I can export the reports and print/email them to my doctor. I don't believe most doctors will take the time to use the online generator either. A built-in Smart Link module would be nice.
The comments above are just icing on the cake for me. I'm very happy with my Intellipap Auto with Smart Flex.

i would like to not only be able to see how many hours i have slept today, but also how many in the last 12 hours. one annoyance i have on my resmed machine is i work nights and when i wake up in the afternoon it shows i only slept 2-3 hours because the timer reset while i was sleeping
Re: DeVilbiss Wants Your Input
Hey, Imtired, the nice thing about the Resmeds is that you CAN change the 12 hour time period for recording data so you don't have those split results. Check the Clinicians Manual for resetting.

Re: DeVilbiss Wants Your Input
I like the idea of "pre-heat" for the humidifier. My machine doesn't have that.
I understand your current machine has a separate plug-in for 12v source, and that this would allow a battery-backup to kick in automatically in case of power outage (for the blower). That is a nice feature.
I like the price & features of your current machine. I like that you have an add-on module for those who want more data -- allowing the customer to decide on that option is very good at the price-point for your current machines.
I don't think your vertical/stacked arrangement will fit in the places I try to shove my current machine (on a shelf, under the bed). But then again, I hear your machines are quiet so maybe that isn't necessary.
Go for a 10 db quietness! That would be a wonderful advancement in technology.
I like to be able to see the breath-by-breath waveforms.
I'd want the CPAP models to be full-data capable, not just APAP. I didn't buy your machine in part because I wanted a CPAP with full data. Is it really that expensive to have ALL your machines report full data? This isn't really the kind of market where you have the ability to up-sell ("bring them in the DME store with a newspaper ad showing the non-reporting machine, and then sell the hoards of customers on the upgrade to full-data").
I don't think I care what it looks like. Maybe if you did something really ugly I'd notice.
In my dreams: an add-on option for bluetooth connection and then show "there's an app for that" for easy review and upload of data. Then the display of the machine, or where it is located, does not matter!

I don't think so. The only time period discussed in the manual is 12 noon to 12 noon. I would be happy if you can show me otherwise. Not for me, but for others like Imtired whose lives run on a different schedule.Slinky wrote:Hey, Imtired, the nice thing about the Resmeds is that you CAN change the 12 hour time period for recording data so you don't have those split results. I've only had my intellipap 2 weeks, haven't found any thing i don't like about it.The only thing I would like to see added is a louder mask off alert. The sound pitch on these pap machines can't be heard by all of us.My wife hears it but not me.I take my mask off sometimes at night after 8 months but don't know until the air blowing on my chest wakes me up.

Can you extend compatability for a pulse/oximeter device that is more economical than Nonin?

Re: DeVilbiss Wants Your Input
I haven't read all the responses, but something I would like to see on machines in general is some way to set an amount of time that the machine is on, that it is not recording data. For instance, I would like to mask-up and then read for a bit before bed. However, if I do this, it will skew my data. If there were a way to set the machine to, say, a half hour of pre-sleep, then have it convert to recording, this could solve the issue of the data being off.
It would also be nice to have a "nap" feature, where you could decide whether or not you wanted the nap to count toward your averages for AHI, etc. There are times I go to take a nap, and then never actually sleep. It would be nice to have these times not count toward the averages, since I was not actually sleeping.

Re: DeVilbiss Wants Your Input
1) How about two basic machines that can be software configurable as CPAP/APAP/BIlevel and the more advanced machines. This would simplify manufacturing as well as supply issues, and allow users to upgrade machines when the need arises (Failed CPAP, upgrade to BIlevel).
2) Keep the ability to have a 12 volt battery connected as backup during power failure with the user choice of heated humidifier or not. Include comparison of battery life with and without heated humidifier, perhaps shortened usage as a percent of non-heated usage.
3) On the cat issue, how about putting the start/stop button on the front along with the display?
4) Some prefer the hose connection on the front and some on the rear. Why not have both with a sealing cap/plug for the unused one?
Sleep Well
