For Grins - Some Pictures of My Vent/Screen

Post by Madalot » Sat Feb 12, 2011 12:45 pm

Because I may go shopping and ask about video cameras to photograph this mess, I took some pictures to show the people what I'm trying to videotape. Thought it would be fun to post some of them here.

These were taken this afternoon and I was laying down on the bed and my son took the pictures of the screen.

I just noticed that on the preview, the ENTIRE screen showed up before I posted. But when I look at it now, the right-hand side of the photograph is cut off, thus not showing the entire screen. You're not able to see the leak rate and some of the information about flow rate and such. Hmmm...can this be fixed I wonder?

Well, for those that love looking at this kind of stuff, here's the information that is cut off from the screen:

Leak Rate, Peak Flow Min Vent:
38 l/min, 52.7 l/min, 10.9 l/min (first picture)
36 l/min, 50.4 l/min, 10.1 l/min (second picture)

Very nice. The technology side of me is jealous. Your "toy" is much nicer than mine...

I see that the a small amount of the pictures are cut off on the right side, but I can still see the data, so I don't think it is a problem.

How are you doing today?

If you go back and read my original post, I have added, in text form, the information that got cut off.

Yeah, the technology is great, but the financial aspect of it stinks. I'll never own this machine and have to pay a lot each month for my portion of the rental. On the plus side, since I don't own it, if something malfunctions, they need to get me another one.

I'm okay. Not great, but okay. I've been in a lot of pain the last couple days and have taken advil pm at night, not something I like to do. I ended up sleeping for about 11 hours, which was nice, but I'm sore and groggy today. Oh well.

Thanks for asking though.

I am glad to hear you are having a "near" excellent day...

On my display those numbers are not being cut off. The cut off I see is the last part of the measurement. For example for your leak rate I see 38 l/ and then half of the m is cut off.

That's interesting. My "preview" showed the entire picture, but when I go into the thread after posting, it's cut off completely after the Vte number.

Hmm, might be screen resolution affecting the edges? On the 2 bottom pics I see black all the way around and nothing is cut off. I have a very high resolution set on this laptop.

That's good to know! I'm using a VERY old monitor with a desktop computer, so maybe that's all it is. Hopefully most people here are using more up-to-date computer equipment!!

To see the entire shot, all I had to do was to right click and save the URL of the link and then go to the original.

Well, we've been talking about this thing for almost a year. Yes, it's been almost a year since I got it. Since I was taking some pictures anyway, I thought I'd share some with you folks, give you an idea of the information I can see on my screen.

Right side was cut off when I first looked at the pics in this thread. Then I used Ctrl while turning my mouse wheel to make the cpaptalk webpage "font" smaller and smaller. The entire picture showed up then.

I always keep the font pretty large. I often have to adjust it back down temporarily via Ctrl+mouse wheel when any posted picture looks like the right side is missing.

Pardon me for asking what kind of vent is this?
I have been in 2 or 3 different sleep centers and did not see any thing this technical.
I did have a simlar machine on me in a ICU in 2005 But did not remember much about it.
I see the brand but do not see a simlar unit under cpap company sales.
Thanks Allen

This is a Respironics Trilogy 100. I'm currently using it in bipap, S/T with AVAPS.

Edited to add: The screen I've illustrated is the FULL screen. I think most patients have the LIMITED screen displayed, which doesn't give them all this information. They left the FULL screen for me because I'm fairly savvy with this stuff, thanks to this forum.

I'm a Biomedical Equipment Technician at a hospital in Ohio, we have BiPap Vision machines, that must be the new and improved model, it looks to be about half the size.

Several years back, I got to visit the Respironics factory for a class to service the Vision. Little did I realize then that not only would I get to work on them, I would end up using the descendent's of the M-series machines then coming off the line.

Thanks for the info. I hope it serves you well.

The thing I remember about the one in the hospital is most of the Rt's did not know how to
run the machine. One came in and had to go to the next floor to get supervisor to
show him how to turn Machine On. Another one played with the controls and made the machine very
easy to deal with. Others could turn it on but did not Know how to set it up. It must have had default settings.
I was scared of dying so I kept my mouth shut. They had me on a O2 sensor that would wake up the floor
with the alarm if o2 level went too low.

Wow Allen, that is scary. But it doesn't surprise me.

I've had to learn a lot and thanks to the kind people here, I probably know more about my ventilator than most RT's! Except for my current RT because he works specifically with this ventilator and knows it inside and out.

I know when I was having trouble with my vent, I went to the DME to try their backup vent and I had to set it up myself!! We had to figure out how to get into the FULL menu, but once we got that figured out, I was off to the races setting it up like mine.

And that's okay -- knowledge is power and in my case, critical to my being able to deal with all of this stuff.
