Iced roads and freezing temps are getting really old! Parts of the interstates are closed when the sun goes down and vehicles start sliding into each other. At 1 pt, the icing was so bad, the big rigs were sliding sideways into adjacent lanes Schools are closed for tomorrow making a full wk outta school for kids and wk outta work for most of us. I still can't get outta my driveway and if I could, I can't navigate the frozen hill. Tomorrow we might make it above freezing. Saturday temps are predicted to be in the 40s...yippee, some of this should melt!!!

Much like northerners stay indoors with heat during the cold. I would much rather deal with the cold as there is no law about putting another pair of pants on. But if I am walking around town with nothing but a pair of sunglasses on because of the 110 degree weather, I am sure that I will going to the slammer.

Yep, gotta agree. As it gets colder you can always add clothes, but as it gets hotter there's a limit to how many you can take off!!

I lived in Louisiana for 15 years. Had a motorcycle when I moved down there but sold it after a couple of years. I had no problem with the idea of sweating while working or exercising outside in the summer, but, sweating while I was -- riding -- the motorcycle?? Told folks down there just before we came home to Idaho that in Idaho you can sweat while working outside, but in LA, you sweat just standing around BSing about work!!

But, we really did enjoy our stay down there. Great experience! I feel for you Atlanta folks. Snow & ice ain't fun when it's not the norm.

At max (Monday morning early), we had 4.5" snow and almost 0.5" ice atop the snow. This afternoon, sunny day 41 degrees, we had 2.5"snow with a light crust of ice. Our street is dry 'cept in the shaded areas where it melts in ruts and then re-freezes when the sun disappears. They still closed some roads due to the heavy ice. I made it out to the grocery store and a Waffe House...bless their hearts they stay open with rare exceptions. This is really old. Thank goodness it's gonna be high 40s, low 50s tomorrow and we'll have significant melting...yippee!!!

Don't forget that 30" icicle can bring down gutters - carefully knock it off (don't stand underneath : )
