Totally stressed out
Totally stressed out
What you might not know is that I've been on the 'bench' between contracts since mid October. Nothing's open here... and my bench time runs out after next week.
No more salary pay checks, I've got 9 weeks of severance coming as they'll be laying me off (9 weeks from 9 years).
I do have an interview coming on Friday for a permanent job... but this place takes so long that I'm not sure I can last that long. One other place working on finding me something... but not much happening right now.
I might have to move back to mom's in Canada (Calgary for the Canadian's) and will end up on EI if I do.

Wow. I'd be stressed out, too. Good luck on the interview this Friday. I hope things work out better than you expect.

I feel your pain. I've been on the "bench" on and off since Feb. '09.

Re: Totally stressed out
I can so relate! I have been off since end of august and only part time for july and august. I have another eXtreme "Sport" technical interview next thursday, it took them more then a month to get back to me about that.
But the economy is much much better in Canada then in the USA. So if you have to go home you might be pleasantly surprised.

I'm so hoping that I don't have to have a second interview for this job that I'm interviewing for on Friday of next week... it took them a month to set up the interview... I would have loved to have had it prior to Thanksgiving.
But maybe it's a first and a second on the same day... it's 2- 1 hour interviews with 2 different people each time.

Re: Totally stressed out
I wish you luck and hope something comes your way soon. My hubby has been out of work for over three years now. He was able to get some temporary positions but nothing permanent or long term. His benefits ran out two months ago. He finally got a good government job this week after 3 years of applying and interviewing and being told NO each time.
So there are jobs out there.....just people are slow to hire.

Good Luck cflame1. One nice aspect of moving to Calgary is that you should be able to find work. What is your occupation? I dont think you can get UI if you haven,t been working in Canada.

Yes, there is a reciprocal agreement between Unemployment Insurance in Canada and the US. I did the reverse--worked in Canada, then moved to the US. I was able to apply for Unemployment benefits in a WA state office, but the checks were issued by Canada.cflame1 wrote:Cortez... according to what I've read I'm eligible due to some cross eligibility thing... Best of luck to you cflame1, however things turn out.

Thanks Kathy! It is stressful. I have about 35 hrs left on this temporary contract and 4 wks of unemployment, then zip with changes of a job about as slim as a blizzard here in Atlanta. Already gone thru my savings.kteague wrote:Seems we hear of so much of this. Wishing you and the others seeking jobs gainful employment and relief from the stress of not knowing.

Had my interview... waiting on feedback
They took me on a tour afterwards, everybody seemed really really nice. Small teams. No questions that I didn't have an answer for.

Re: Totally stressed out
cflame, that sounds encouraging, especially the tour. Can't imagine why they'd do that if they weren't giving you serious consideration. Sending the good thoughts your way!
