P R One Beeping - Bad SD Card?
Re: P R One Beeping - Bad SD Card?
Or even Amazon.com. Just a regular old Sandisk Ultra will do. I certainly don't think there is anything special about the Respironics cards. They are formatted FAT-32 and are probably low end Chinese ones with a Respironics tag on them.
And yes, it's easy to kill an SD card in your pocket or with lots of use. I've done it with cameras and its a bitch when it happens with lots of photos on it. Good luck. You might want to cycle the power on your machine (turn it off - with 10 min - then turn it on) before you re-insert the new card. But I suspect you've done that already. If not - it will possibly make sure that there is not some bad corrupted memory on whatever OS is running on the CPAP.

It's all in the procedure but I never woulda thought about pockets.Captain_Midnight wrote:I now suspect that a good card just went bad. Not surprising, I remove it daily, and I'll put it in pockets etc generating who knows how much static electricity.
Dori - I have never heard of that module going bad - that doesn't mean it doesn't happen but I would repeat the format or better yet, use a known working card 1st.

Re: P R One Beeping - Bad SD Card?
Gumby, thanks for following up with me. For Mike's nap today,I used the card used last night from our original machine (it recorded data OK) but it did not record the nap data(90minutes) in the backup machine and when turned off it started beeping again,Service Required. I called Respironics and they agreed with you that these modems don't go bad unless the machine is badly abused in some way. They would not accept a repair from a "third party" but only from the DME where it was originally purchased and sold to the DME's customer. They looked up the Model# and SN and told me this machine was purchased by the DME in 2007, I bought it from a member in 9/09 in very good condition and low usage and even if they were to accept it for repair it would cost more than it's worth now. So now I'm considering the PRSystemOneAuto although it's causing me some anxiety to make a change although the reviews have been so good. As you know, I had such a hard time in the beginning getting my husband's therapy to be successful. Thanks for your help, sorry if I hijacked this thread.

Have you tried using the machine w/o the card? If you are only using that machine only for naps I wouldn't even worry about the data for the naps.DoriC wrote:Gumby, thanks for following up with me. Re: P R One Beeping - Bad SD Card?
Yes, that is an option and I guess it might work, I'll try it. I could use it as a backup in an emergency for a night or two with no data if I had to. That's what had me worried. I was actually using it as our main machine because I liked the data better than our original, lower AHIs and leak rates. I've been told that even the same models can be calibrated differently in the factory and that's the case with ours. So now you've given me an idea for some breathing room to make a decision! Thanks.

Re: P R One Beeping - Bad SD Card?
Dori - the link to Cpap.com was for a compliance only module. I suspect the full data module is more than the machine is worth.DoriC wrote: It may be the whole data modem is corrupted which I see can be replaced on cpap.com for $65.https://www.cpap.com/productpage/m-seri ... odule.html
Captain Midnight: I've read somewhere that the System One machines code a specific number to the card so that someone can't go to someone else's machine and grab their compliance data (among other things). I'm wondering if there may be more to formatting a System one card than giving it a FAT-32 format. Frankly I've never experimented with that, though I do have two identical machines to test it on.
Either way - has anyone had success formatting a System One card via PC? Or do you need something totally Respironics like Encore Pro to give it the right machine coding? I do remember reading that when producing a report - the software reads the number on the card to make sure it is really the right card. Encore pro may have a way of reassigning that number to a blank card. Just a guess. Hopefully we will hear good news in the morning.
Re: P R One Beeping - Bad SD Card?
jonquiljo - I'm not sure what you are asking but I format my System One SD card on my computer all the time. I just format it like any other card using my PC. I am using the original Respironics card that came with my Syatem One.

Re: P R One Beeping - Bad SD Card?
In the Download For Device icon you have the window 'Data Card Utilities'
then you have the options:
- Initialize Card
- Assign Card
- Preview Card
- Download Card
- Erase Card
I understand (as per the System One help informations) you need to Initialize the new card and then Assign Card will write your information in the card and tell the program to whom that card belongs, you will see your name and machine number after doing that. Pay attention there is an instruction you need to follow when you initialize the card. It will be a little tricky to get rid of that window but you will manage to find the way.
I think that there is some cards that will never function with the System One. I have (as I already wrote) a Sandisk 2GB SD card that I formated Fat32, initialize and assigned and it still doesn't work with the machine. I don't know the reason. I formated standard too and it doesn't work neither.

Re: P R One Beeping - Bad SD Card?
.
Good (for now) news to report, and I'll summarize here for future forum folks who search on this thread heading.
- PR 1 unit beeps repeatedly each time sd card inserted. Cleaned card contacts with eraser then ethanol (vodka). No help. Suspected cause, corrupted card due to static electricity, curious golden retriever, or phase of moon.
- Re-format, via Windows 7, solves beeping issue; however...
- Subsequent night's data from card can't be downloaded on Encore Viewer; (and Windows gives a popup that card needs formatting) Dang.
- Bought 2 gb sd card locally (using caution not to by an sdhc by mistake) Lots of good advice from posters on this forum and thread about this. It's a Sandisk, but I suspect that other brands will work as well. I think that the PR sd card is a PNY.
- Put new card in machine, no beeping! Also noticed on lcd that the machine immediately began some kind of formatting or data transfer to new card, and this process took several minutes.
- Next AM, put same locally obtained card (with one-night's data) into usb sd card reader in computer, and Encore Viewer downloaded data just fine! (AHI 0.3, which is roughly my average)
- Good surprise next, somehow the PR-1 put the two night's previous data on the card, so now I unexpectedly maintain a continuous data set. Not even anticipated, but kudos to PR for the capability.
- But wait, there's more. When I re-insert the new card back into the machine...you guessed it, rapid beeping. Dang.
- I removed the card, waited a few, put it back in...no beeps, life's good (for now, we'll see tomorrow.)
Regards all - - Capt. Midnight (Tom)

Re: P R One Beeping - Bad SD Card?
The first card I bought a Sandisk 2GB SD never work even if I formated, initialized and assigned.
Today I bought a second card, a Lexar 2GB SD Multi purpose. I put it in the machine, no beeping at all, the LCD said Data was been transfered don't remove the card. It toke a good 10 seconds, then the normal menu came back for 2 seconds but after that the first message appeared again for the same 10 or 15 sec. When the normal menu came back I toke the card out of the machine ASAP.
I put the card in my computer, Encore said this card didn't belongs to the user. I tried to Initialize, it says the card is already initialized. Then I tried Assign Card, the card now shows my name and guess what? All the information from last night was inside.
Voila I have a spare fonctional card now,
To me the Sandisk is no compatible with my System One, the card works in my computer but the machine can't recognize it an stop beeping. Good luck

- Several days and nights pass without incident, and then the SD card reader goes on the fritz. I zipped over to Walgreens and bought a cheapie 50-in-one reader, and it works just fine. I mention this because a faulty card reader may have taken down my initial SD card, which could be the root of the problem. The lesson here is that if you are changing out your SD card to try to solve a mystery PR One nuisance beeper problem, consider changing card reader at the same time.

Re: P R One Beeping - Bad SD Card?
Another "good news" (so far) story.
I had to drop off my data card at my DME today, to satisfy insurance requirements. My RT was not in, and I was not able to get the SD card back. I worried how I would keep track of my therapy in the interim until I get my card back, since I'm currently trying to work on self-titrating.
After reading this post, I grabbed a new SD card I happen to have in my camera bag. I stuck it in my computer, and it had no information on it. I did not get any pop up telling me that it needed formatting, so I just "safely removed" it. I put it in my PRS1. I got the "Data card activity--do not remove card" pop up on the LCD screen. It actually popped up 4 times. I gave it a few more minutes to make sure it was done.
I then took the card back to my computer. Before putting it in my computer, I opened Encore Viewer and printed out my most recent report. (I had downloaded info this morning before I took the card in.) After printing the report I stuck the card into my computer (I have a reader right on my machine), and was able to "Download from Device"! It took some time, as it usually does. I then clicked to "View Report", and got the same information that I had previously printed! As far as I can tell, the machine actually printed ALL of my information onto the new SD card!
Now, I'm cautiously optimistic that tomorrow morning when I get up I will see my overnight data has been recorded, and I can continue with my titration.
Edited to add: Overnight data was on the new card this morning. I'm one happy camper! although the numbers weren't as good
