Re: Pressure change

My first night on a higher pressure. I turned my cpap from 11 to 12 and decided to give it a week. I went to bed about 8:30 pm and watched tv for about an hour. I fell asleep sometime between 9:30 and 10:00. I slept soundly until around midnight. I woke to use the restroom and went back to bed. Fell asleep fast and slept until nearly 5:00 am. I see that as an improvement. I slept some what longer than usual and more soundly. Baby steps to improvement.

Me too Bev. I love that I feel wide awake. I was having these days before but not all the time. That was improvement from when I first started but I always knew it could be better. I certainly hope I am on the right track.

I haven't hit the "wide Awake" feeling, yet. You should have seen me this morning, at 6:30, the radio says it's 43 degrees. What the heck?!!! Last week it was 98 degrees and today it's 43? I threw on my robe and stumbled outside to bring my pineapple and avacado plants inside. I hope I didn't kill them. I've been bringing them in for the winter for 8 years and I actually got the pineapple to fruit this year.

Totally off topic

Growing tropical fruit in Virginia isn't very easy. It started out as a lesson for my grandson, to teach him how things grew, from seeds or cuttings, etc.

A lot of years of lugging the pots in for the winter and this summer I got this

That wouldn't last in my neighborhood.
We had two big orange sweet peppers poached off our plant out front--right after we got back from vacation.
I went out and pruned the plant back the other night, as we expect frost any day now.
It had 88 little green peppers on it. --ONE PLANT!
We expect all to ripen indoors--sweet, yummy, snack size.
I think we're going to pot the plant--either more peppers this winter or a mature plant for early next spring.

After 2 nights on the higher pressure setting I am feeling good. I did not sleep as long last night though. I did sleep until after 3:00 am before waking to use the bathroom. I was waking up around midnight before. I think given time this could work out well. I do feel more rested. Perhaps I am maintaining deep sleep longer.

Hi Everyone

This is a great post and I want to thank everyone that ihas been involved.

I am having similar concerns with my pressure. Currently I am set at cpap=10 I was at 9 and boosted it up myself, after getting tired of trying to get my doctor to prescribe me an increase. Its been a very frustrating expereince. So even with this increase I have not noticed any change what so ever. I am still fatiged during the day, and pretty much nap through lunch and most of my breaks at work as well as an hour long nap at home after work.

I have not bumped up my pressure any more as my doctor has implied that by doing so It could be very harmful to my health. After reading some posts I now belive that he is full of crap!

Any suggestions?

Brett

Brett, what does your nightly data look like? Leak under control?

Brett, your machine is not data-capable so you have no way of knowing about apneas, leaks or the best pressure. Do you have a copy of your sleep study report and RX? Is there a way you can upgrade to a data -capable machine? Analyzing the nightly stats is essential to getting optimal therapy. Good luck and keep us posted.

Maybe it is my imagination but I think there has been some improvement since changing my pressure setting. I went from 11 to 12. I feel that my average sleep hours has increased. I think when I get home from my sleep over work weekend on Monday. I will go up to 13 and see how that works for a week.
