Newbie - First night on CPAP tonight!

Post by Brendan » Fri Oct 01, 2010 9:37 pm

Hi All,
Just wanted to introduce myself. Tonight is my first night on CPAP and I can't wait to get some decent sleep! I had a sleep study done last week and found I had an AHI of 34!!! That would certainly explain why I've been so tired for so long. After just over 2 hours with a mask during the sleep study I felt better than I have in a very long time so I'm giddy at the thought of what a full night will do for me. I picked up an S9 autoset with a nose pillow mask today. Bring on the REM! Anyway, I still have a lot to learn about all of this and I look forward to being part of this community. Wish me luck for tonight!!

Brendan.

You will hate the CPAP life. Find alternatives.

Welcome Brendan! Best wishes for a great night of rest and deep sleep! When you get a minute, please go to the User Control Panel (top left), Click on Profile, choose Edit Equipment, and then choose your machine, mask, etc. from the pull down menus. Please choose to show them in TEXT, not icons.

Thanks Emilia. I updated my equipment per your suggestion. I don't have any software yet. Any idea where I can get that?

Here I am up at 1:53am. Why? Uncomfortable mask. There is no such thing as a comfortable CPAP mask. I've gone through 6 types already. Enjoy CPAP life. Since CPAP I never have had a good night's sleep. I am looking at alternatives like surgery or losing more weight. You should too.

Man I'm starting to wonder if you are on the right pressure. Perhaps you should check the sleep doc that did all this. Ask around, see if hes respected or if he runs a chop shop.

It isn't the air pressure that is irritating me. It's the mask itself.

All six of them? I have heard that like a trillion times. Things can't irritate you if you are asleep man.

Hello Brendan and Lioness I hope you both have a great nighs ssleep. Don't feel too bad if it is not all you expect though. There are many things that can mess it up like mask leaks etc. That said, once those things get worked out life does get better. (for most of us anyways). Good luck.
