[quote="ldj325"]I am fairly new to this forum. I have been using the ResMed S9 for about 3 months now and it has been a true godsend. But I have primarily central sleep apnea, Cheyne-Stokes Respiration (CSR), which may be secondary to heart failure. The central apnea should be more responsive to an adaptive servo-ventilation unit (ASV) than the S9. I am hoping that some of the experienced users here will help me to self-titrate with ASV units—if this is indeed the type of machine that is most appropriate for me. In order to facilitate getting the most accurate and specific help I am posting extensive data and information.
You cannot self titrate for any type of apnea "period." Couple things, sounds like the lab that you went to and reading MD doesnt know their ass from a hole in the ground. My first suggestion is have another study at another lab. Theres several types of therapy for Sleep Disordered Breathing. CPAP for Obstructive Sleep Apnea, BiPAP and BiPAP with timed back up rate for central/mixed apneas, and for what they "say" you have central sleep apnea/complex sleep apnea/CSR theres BiPAP ASV. After looking at your reports not only is there no actual interp from an MD, but from the data they didnt even run an actual BiPAP ASV study on you...Also you mentioned your heart condition caused the central apnea, probably the other way around you probably had OSA which caused the A-Fib which led to the central sleep apnea, bet you also have diabetes type 2 huh... If in fact you do have central sleep apnea and CSR the best machine you have to fix your problem is the respironics BiPAP AutoASV. But it CANNOT be slef titrated. Again i would get another study from another lab. One where the medical director is board certified sleep physician and the techs have an RPSGT after their name. Oh and 4cmH2O is atmospheric pressure so using a machine at that setting is the same as sleeping without it.

Not only that, but quite an attitude. I wish that I knew I knew as much as "Imma RPSGT". However, I've had a lot of time to learn that I don't know squat .. and I've been working hard at learning!Pugsy wrote:You do realize that you are responding to a 2 year old thread?????Imma RPSGT wrote:You cannot self titrate for any type of apnea "period."
Ugh! Save us from such "know it all" types. Perhaps well meaning, but definitely goes down the wrong way!

Yeah, I had some thoughts along those lines but you know me...they weren't suitable for public print. I would get my hands slapped for unladylike language. Something along the lines of What The ....JohnBFisher wrote:Not only that, but quite an attitude.
