AFAIK it has to go back to either a high end DME or the Mfg for any firmware updates. But I suppose if you had a problem during the warranty period you would get another machine? Not suggesting you do
Of Course if you have a HC 150 you could add that in series - or just remove the other HH. Just don't use a long hose with it.

UPDATE - - - Found it in my bipap User Manual on pg9. That is how to change the humidifier to the "Classic" mode. I did not see it in the Humidifier Manual.

It is not required to go into Provider Mode to make the change from System One humidification to Classic.
Below are step-by-step directions (perhaps a bit too detailed and may insult your intelligence):
Have machine plugged in but not blowing air.
Turn dial twice so that the top right hand square of Therapy is no longer darkened; the bottom-right hand square “Set-Up” is darkened instead. Instead of turning dial, now push it in to access Set Up menu.
Once in Set Up menu, turn dial to the third item listed, “System One Humidification”—it will indicate “on” next to it. Push button to select and access options.
Turn dial once, this should change the “on” to “off.” Push dial to make/set the change.
Turn dial to next item listed, “Humidifier” and push dial to change setting. You will now see a “C” before each humidifier setting now—this will serve as confirmation it is now in classic mode.
Turn it to desired humidification setting and push dial in to keep change.
Turn dial to scroll down to “Back” option and this will take you back to the main screen.
Often the access to the set-up menu will time out after just a few seconds of inactivity and go back to Therapy on the main menu. You will have to try steps again, but a little quicker.
Now when you turn the dial to change humidification level going forward, it will stay in Classic Mode unless you go back into the Setup Menu and change it back to System One mode.

I've tried everthing and it still doesn't change to classic. My software doesn't have a "system humidification".

OK unregistered people (or is it one person?). This is a very old thread, talking about an older model of the Respironics Humidifier.
We cannot help you unless you register and tell us EXACTLY what model machine you have. That means you take the TANK OUT of your machine and then (only with the tank out) read the model number of your machine on the serial number tag on the bottom of the machine. We also need to know the make--is it a Respironics machine???
What is the humidifier set to on your machine?
Is it brand new, have you had it a long time, or did you acquire it used or from someone else??
If it's brand new, why haven't you called your DME to ask for some help???
When we have that info, we will be able to help you figure out what's going on with your humidifier. We CAN help, but until you give us the information about your machine, we're flying blind.

Comments on 6 year old threads, though referring to older stuff, is still ok. There are MANY of us using older stuff. My Insurance sure as heck wont even consider an upgrade until the machine is 6 years old or older. Being that mine is only 4, I still ahce a way to go. As such, I GREATLY appreciate these older threads still hanging out. I was able to switch mine to classic mode on my menues instead of switching to doctors mode.
I go into Doctors mode to make minor pressure adjustments here and there, but didnt even know about classic mode for humidification until I came here. I would wake up with my mouth dry as well as my throat all the way down to the lungs. Man, That sucks something miserable... CLassic mode, though, does put some humidity in the hose, is significantly better for me. I just need to shake out any sitting water in the morning so the hose can dry while I am at work. This is no big deal.
THank you for the BB and the latest suggestion how to change it without doctors mode.

Haven't heard back from the OP.
I don't know if he's using a heated hose. Also, there is a setting to override the anti-rainout feature on the Dream Station, but I don't know about the older Respionics machine. My previous machine was an AEIO-Med Everest 3, and before that two F&P machines (since 1999).
One problem I have with the Dream Station is that it can use up all the water before the night is over (a "night" is from 7 to 8 hours for me). If he gets up for a potty break, he should take the opportunity to refill at that time.
