From what I have read and tried, Buteyko is not a replacement for CPAP. Although arguably the longer you use Buteyko instead of CPAP, the more your slowly dying brain might start to think its working.....

However, I did find that the Buteyko technique for clearing a blocked nose was effective and relatively easy. Once cleared I find CPAP then keeps it clear sufficient to use nasal masks.

So in my experience it is not completely useless for apnea suffers (but pretty close).

So CPAP is a mechanical pranayama device. I like that idea. As a person 5 days into CPAP I notice definite similarities between the two. However, when u sleep u need CPAP to keep your airway open. Even an advanced master with OSA will have OSA regardless.

No, it is not.

Pranayama, in the context of breathing, is about regulating inhalation, exhalation and retention.

CPAP is only about splinting the airway open. There is no regulating function.

If you need regulation, see adaptive servo-ventilation (ASV).
