I really like your user name lol. I use the medium pillows on the Swift FX. I tried all sizes of the liberty mask base and found medium to be best. I used medium and small nasal pillows for the Liberty, but couldn't decide which was better. Thing is, I never got a good seal from the liberty (or the hybrid).Ms.Snuffleupagus wrote:Bob3000, what size pillow size did you use for the liberty mask and which size are you using for the swift fx? I used small for both the liberty and the Opus masks. I use a small for the swift fx but am struggling with leaks. Either I need an extra small or I don't have it tightened enough.
Anyone else who can tell me how the pillow sizing of the swift fx compares to other masks?

Thanks Bob..
I was just trying to figure out if I should order the extra small pillow size or not. Don't want to spend money and order the extra small and find out its too small. But from what I have heard the pillow sizes on the Swift fx seem comparable to other Resmed pillow sizes.

I'm in Oz. Been using FX for about a month. I really like it. Excellent results, minimal leaks for me. Silicone strap over top of the head is too big. It has a pull through notched closure. I have a big head and the strap is almost at it's maximum tightness.

It has arrived! I had to try it on (yes, at work) just to see what the fuss is. I have to say, I'm very impressed with the design. It barely feels like it's on at all. I think I may miss the tilt adjustment, but we'll see how it goes tonight!

Re: New SWIFT FX--ANYONE using it yet?
After two straight weeks of using the FX I'm still very happy with it! One or two nights I had more leakage than I'd like but a wee little bit of adjustment took care of that. At this point I'm planning to stick with this puppy!

Re: New SWIFT FX--ANYONE using it yet?
I have been using the Swift FX for a couple of weeks now and I really like it. It seems almost leakproof!
At first, I had some trouble with which size I should be using. I had used the small in the SwiftLT and thought that was the way to go but the seal did not seem quite right. I tried the medium for a while but it was a bit uncomfortable so switched back to the small. What I really needed was to use it consistently and get the headgear adjusted just right. Now it is great!
I have an almost straight leak line and this is the second morning in a row when my data shows AHI 0.0!! In the couple of weeks I have been using it,I have had an AHI of 0.0 several times. Actually I had this going with the SwiftLT as well but this mask is even more "minimal" than the Swift LT. It's like there is nothing there! it is very comfortable!
I doublt that this mask is for everyone but for me, it is certainly a really good choice.

Thanks O!
As I said, it is probably not for everyone but better even than the Swift LT, for me.
The big question remains - will the pillows stand up longer than the ones for the SwiftLT!! Time will tell!

Re: New SWIFT FX--ANYONE using it yet?
falvesjr wrote:Got the mask and tried it last night... The mask itself is really a marvel of engineering. It fit very well and sealed perfectly. I did have a little bit of the "hard to inhale" thing that the Swift LT does for me, but not bad enough to want to take it off. The vent seems to blow at a good angle as to avoid hitting your arms, even if they are folded in front of you when side-sleeping. It was also very quiet, almost as quiet as the Activa SoftGel (which is, in essence, completely silent).
However... There had to be a "however", didn't it? Well, the thing is this: Even though the mask sealed very well around the nostrils and I felt like there were no leaks whatsoever, it did cause me to leak through the mouth very badly -- through three layers of tape! Of course, I didn't feel this most of the time, but looking at my charts this morning, I can see just how bad it was. The first time I had a clue that I was leaking was at 4AM when I awoke because the machine had turned off! I have my VPAP set to auto-off on mask removal, so the leak must have been so large that it thought I'd taken the mask off! Of course, at 4AM and half-asleep I didn't realize what had happened and was puzzled as to why my machine had suddenly turned itself off. Anyway, I went back to sleep and all seemed fine again. But all was not fine -- I was still mouth-leaking -- badly enough that I now was waking up with the rushing air. This went on for the rest of the morning until I decided to just get up.
It's really a shame that nasal-pillow masks just don't seem to work for me... Especially the FX, as it feels great and seals well... I guess it's back to the Activa SoftGel tonight so I can get some better sleep.
I found this information in the FX manual "SmartStop may not operate effectively when using this mask with
some CPAP or bilevel devices that have this feature."
I am not sure but this may have been your problem
Hope it helps
Re: New SWIFT FX--ANYONE using it yet?
First night; first impression.
- New design is very minimal; lays very flat against your face.
- Nasal pillows don't stick out as far, which helps prevent pressure leaks when sleeping on your side. HUGE PLUS!
- I miss the tilt adjustment, but didn't seem to need it really.
- Air flow seems more distributed; less like two columns of air shooting up your nose. At first this seemed like I was getting less air, but I was just adjusting to the mask.
- Seems like less nasal congestion today. Maybe because of the softer airflow?
- Silicone straps, with soft-wraps, VERY comfortable.
- EDIT: Taking the pillows on and off is LESS user-friendly since the pillows are soft silicone. I don't like that setup very much. If they made back of the pillows a bit stiffer, it would help with that process.

Re: New SWIFT FX--ANYONE using it yet?
Yes, I had some trouble with that, too. So I went to cpap.com and looked at the video near the bottom of the Swift FX page and watched how they did it. That plus some practice has made the procedure less annoying but I think your idea might work better!tattooyu wrote:...Taking the pillows on and off is LESS user-friendly since the pillows are soft silicone. Re: New SWIFT FX--ANYONE using it yet?
tattooyu - as the mask gets used it gets more pliable and putting it back together gets easier.
I had trouble at first as well but now it is much easier.
