One of my new year's resolutions was not to respond to comment on any posts about sex.

You're right, but if anything else is happening, I'll have to confess to napping without my cpap, because I must be sleeping thru it. I'd prefer Packitin's dreams - at least he remembers them!

Well, my long-distance boyfriend just left after a week long visit. The only weird thing for me was that I needed to try to figure out when he was asleep so that I could then put on my mask and go to sleep. Like somebody else said, it's a definite signal that the fun is over and I never wanted to do that prematurely. I don't snuggle up to him as much as I'd like and there was a pillow strategically placed between us anytime I rolled over to face him because it was way too cold to have the cold air blowing on him. In the morning, when he'd start to stir, I'd remove my mask.

The mask should not get in the way any more than any other item of clothing.

Although I have heard reports that oral sex becomes more challenging whilst wearing the mask...

Sleeprider said something very important about this therapy re-energizing your libido (or words to that effect). I am still very new to CPAP , actually tomorrow night will complete my second week and I am beginning to feel some small improvements. One of the items on my list of worries over the last two years spent chasing a reason for my utter exhaustion, my depressed mood, irritability, forgetfulness, fogginess, etc, was complete, and I do mean complete, loss of libido. When I finally learned the name of the enemy and began to read all the things it could cause, I quite literally broke down and cried like a baby. This condition could be the cause of every single misery that had become my daily life.
As I said, I am just beginning to see some small ray of light ahead and dealing with some issues with the treatment itself, but nothing about it..not my red nose that gets taped at night or the not so good results of an overnight pulse ox test I just did, will get me to stop. All these things can and will be dealt with. The most important thing is that NOW I know the name of the enemy and I know what the treatment is. What a gift. In order to validate why I even began to write this, I just want to say that knowing this loss of libido may very well be one more thing that will improve with this mask I put on my face every night is a very good thing to know. And when it does come back, well, I have always been a very creative person

Jodi,

If anything, my husband and I have it better. I'm not as tired. I'm not in as much pain. It means I'm more interested.

Besides, he knows that if I get up and go pee, and then come back to bed and DON'T put my mask on at once, it probably means it's T-I-I-M-E. <evil chuckle>

I'm confused? Never mind.

Wow, rubymom, you said exactly what I came on to say... to a T. Including the long-distance boyfriend part. I do the same thing. We cuddle til he falls asleep, I mask up, and when we wake up in the morning I take the mask off, and we cuddle some more. The only difference is that since I use a Headrest, it vents straight up, so no air blowing on him while we're sleeping, for the most part.
Machine: M-Series Auto
Mask: Headrest
No humidifier
On the hose since 2005.

Personally, the worst part is simply trying to resist nodding off afterwards!!

I reckon there's a market for some sort of alarm system that you can use after sex, kinda like an egg timer that beeps when the time runs out. That way you could have a few mins in each others arms after sex and NOT fall completely asleep!!

After six months on cpap I am beginning to re-evaluate my choice to remain celibate and not bother with the hassles of a relationship.

But why does bedtime = sex time these days?

The first 6 years of my active sex life back in the 60's never included a bed. The back seat of an Austin mini, innumerable bushes, stairwells, a photography dark room (with red light woohoo), and other venues - the price of living at home.

Then there are the clubs here in town where you can do it in anonymous groups - with or without handcuffs and whip.

So why this hang up of doing it with a cpap mask on?
