APAP to CPAP trial over

Post by GaryG » Wed Dec 16, 2009 12:16 pm

After these numbers at my third day at CPAP = 10.4, I think the trial is over and I should keep this setting for a bit.

What's interesting is I had less sleep last night than I've had for the past few weeks, so it looks like the early morning events are gone
I can't say I was more relaxed or had less stress in my life. Who knows? But now my job is to repeat last night's numbers for a while...
Frankly, I was convinced that APAP was the way to go, but took a chance on CPAP. But if I can't play with my settings now what will I do with my free time (lame sense of humor, sorry.)

Those numbers look great. Could leaks be a bit better maybe? Doesn't look too bad though. I'm a Liters/second guy (ResMed), so the Liters/minute graphs always throw me off.

If you can get consistent numbers like that AND you feel good. I'd leave it alone for a good while.
Sleep well and live better!

Lookin' good, Gary.

Glad to see you're having success (and found a good pressure) with your "trial".

You're gonna be giving "carbonman" some competition soon.

Hi Gary,

I've been following your CPAP trial with great interest. Good to hear that you're finding what works best for you!

I'm a relative newbie, so I may not know what I'm talking about , but do you know where those leaks are coming from? Are they mask leaks, or could you be losing therapy air from your mouth while deeply asleep (maybe without even realizing it, as I was). You may want to see if you can hone in on that because, at least on this chart, it does look like the "events" coordinate with the leaks.

I hope you will be feeling better during the day soon! I know that it's been frustrating for you, especially during commutes.

Wishing you continued success,

DreamOn

Congrats, Gary, as it looks like you're having success in your quest to find the "sweet spot." Now, kindly rub my head and give me some of that good luck to use in my APAP experiment(s).

Carry on.

#'s in L/sec Median (0.0) 95% (0.06) Max (0.26). These look pretty good to me.

Even me, who is a numbers geek will be holding off for a while.

Thanks for the encouragement, Den. But there is one and only one C-Man.

I had a leak around 1:30, but I had no apnea activity then. And the one interval where I had my 2 AI events between 230 and 3, I had zero leaks. So as one newbie to another, the minimal leakage I'm showing (remember these numbers are l/min not l/sec), seem unimportant.

I seemed a little less tired today, but maybe it was cos my numbers were good. And thanks for the encouragement.

Consider your head rubbed. And I've been very interested in your quest for "zero" as well. So keep trying.

This just in AI = 0.0

Post by GaryG » Thu Dec 17, 2009 6:15 am

Well, I got my first night of AI = 0.0. OK, the HI was up (3.2). Something very unusual. My alarm is set for 7AM and it usually wakes me up. Not today. I woke up at 5:40 and snoozed for about an hour before getting up.

Note to newbies: If I can do it, you can too.

Now this is just a number, real test now for me is if I can keep these numbers coming for an extended period, how will I feel (aside from looking at geeky great numbers.).

But getting up early is a great sign.

Thanks to EVERYONE out there who has been encouraging me on my journey.

Gary, you're out there in front setting the example.

I think it's only going to get better for you.
