Crowpat,

That is a very good response - plenty to look at.

One added question, how would you describe your level of stress over the past year - esp lately & I forgot to ask your height.

6'1". Stress level is normal for me, but you would probably consider it above normal. No change in this for years.

See, CROWPAT... You thought your thread was winding down. It's just getting started!

I figure I owe it to Crowpat to at least make some contribution. I am hoping that by looking holistically at the usual obvious factors we may come to some conclusions as to what the most likely causes of the tiredness are. It is quite on the cards that the cpap machine is doing the best it can & other factors are the cause, it may be a mix.

PS one side thing you may be interested to hear (requires no answer here) is that months back I was talking about cramps whan using the Vpap AdaptSV vs fewer cramps while using the Bipap AutoSV. Quinine usually worked but 2 weeks back I decided to lower EEP on the Vpap Adapt SV (0.8 CMs from 10 to 9.2) & raise the epap/ipap gap (PS) to 3.8 from 3 - since then no cramps ! *none* - only time will tell if that has changed things but I had become convinced that there was a subtle setting related to pCO2 levels that may have been behind it. At the moment I will be very pleased if the issue has come under control but will need to really think through why those changes might have solved the problem.

I forgot one medical history related item. I smoke 6-8 or so cigars a day.

Hmmmmm

I used to love a good cuban myself (smoked a pipe prior to that).

Do you breathe each puff of the smoke right dwon into your lungs ? (that was something I didn't do).

Well, considerations outside the scope of CPAP are a very good idea. That's the reason for going back to the beginning to look at this problem anew IMO.

Then eventually this thread may even head back to that series of BiPAP autoSV experiments that I would have run by my own doctor if CROWPAT's numbers were mine.

But first things first! So back to those preliminary questions with caution and safety in mind. Excellent idea.

God, get this man on AVAPS! The machine is in the garage that I was saving as Laryssa's replacement machine. But, we could spend months experimenting with CROWPAT on AVAPS.

Seriously though, CROWPAT may actually get better therapy on a VPAP Adapt SV.

Banned , et al. I have never used a Resmed machine of any type, have no software for it, no card reader, no prescription for one, and no insurance that will pay for it. Besides, Banned, your generous donation to make that little girl's life better should remain a focus for you. I bought the Bipap Auto SV out of pocket from someone on CpapAuction.com. Did I buy the wrong machine? Too early in this research to tell if the machine is the problem?

Banned, and he may get better therapy on a Bipap Auto - lets work with what we have at this point

CROWPAT - if we accept that stress levels are unaltered & exercise level has remained pretty constant, what would you attribute the big weight gain to. 20 lbs is a fairly big change in such a short time. What I am trying to get to is anything that has changed the overall situation for you in at least the past 12 months.

Tks DSM

(PS SWS, am sure we will end up following the suggestions you have already made & PPS I meant to address the cramps comment to you but see I left the SWS off at the start).

CROWPAT - that Bipap AutoSV machine is highly configurable into many cpap modes so if anyone chose to experiment on themselves it is a very flexible starting point just as it was for Laryssa despite her tiny stature & minuscule tidal flow.
