does anyone not like their activa and why?

I like my Activa, but I wish ResMed had used the same exhaust, swivel and quick disconnect system of the original Mirage. Then it would be just about perfect for me.

This mask was just too heavy. It did seal rather well, however.
If I had to wear a mask (I'm a nasalaire II convert), I would try it again. Have one in mask drawer as a matter of fact.

Hi everyone. I'm just getting started in the world of cpaps. Glad to have discovered this forum.

For two weeks I've been using the Activa mask. Reading posts here, and looking at an Activa fitting guide that I found on ResMed's site, it looks like the "cushions" are supposed to visibly inflate when the air pressure is on. When I hold the mask away from my face with the pressure on, so I can take a look at it, I'm not seeing any inflating going on, or any other visible change. Does this mean my mask is not working right? My pressure setting is 10.

It won't appear to do anything if it's not on your face. It doesn't "inflate" per se. It's more like a hover craft. Once the mask is sealed to your face it moves with your breathing.

I have used several masks in the past, but the Activa is by far the best for me. I like being able to leave the head gear a little looser and still maintaining a good seal. I have even forgotten to reconnect one side after getting up at night and didn't realize it until the next morning. But as others have said, it isn't for everyone.

I've recently started using a nasal mask, a used ComfortGel that my DME donated. I had been using Swift, Breeze, Aura. The ComfortGel provides a very natural breathing experience with just slight sound on inhaling and exhaling, slightly louder on exhale, which is the way I breathe without a mask. It is comfortable, and leaks little.

I dislike the sounds the nasal pillow interfaces make on inhale: really loud to me, especially the Swift and Aura. The Breeze is much less noisy and is my favorite of the nasal pillows for that reason.

So, I am a recent convert to a nasal mask, but like most, I wonder if there is a better interface. And, I am interested in trying the Activa because it has received so much good feedback on this forum.

This topic has provided me with favorable and unfavorable feedback on the Activa, which, not unsurprisingly, is the way most interfaces are perceived. At this point, I am enjoying (how can one enjoy a CPAP mask?) the ComfortGel so much (It's a relative thing.), that I am not compelled to buy an Activa. I will wait until I am eligible for my insurance to pay for it. The posts to this topic make it easier for me to wait.

Only on CPAP 1 month now, but Activa works best for me so far. I have trouble with it digging a sore across the bridge of nose and at base of nose - I took Moleskin (not Molefoam) and cut pieces to fit the mask on the inside of cushion where lip is so stiff (this is the part that is digging in. Stick moleskin to these areas and it helps -

If you have no problem with adhesive (as I do) then cut strips of Moleskin and put across bridge of nose and base of nose to stop the digging.

I have had no problems with leaks by using Moleskin (and as RG said to me - isn't it nice to know those cute little moles didn't die for nothing!)

I know. The short hose that comes with the Activa is heavy. I removed it and plugged the 6-foot long hose directly to the swivel fitting.

The first couple of hours it works, after that it slides up into my eyes. The headgear doesn't keep the mask from riding up, being woke up by the mask twice a hour doesn't make for good sleep. I'm sure for the money thay could make better headgear. Jim

Save that little jewel of a short hose for future lab rat use or for trade to lab ratters. The Activa's short hose (with its swivel) is what I used to connect the top of the ComfortLite 2's hose to the main air hose after I removed the CL2's swivel elbow.

Well.... I've started with the Activa... tried several other masks... I think 8 in all(I lost count)..... and came back to the Activa everytime!!!!!!!!!!!

My only complaint is.... I wish it was quieter.

And I WISH they had a fulll face mask like this!!!!!!!!!!
