I am going to have to break down and get me a hybrid. Might as well bite the bullet and get it. I won't be happy until I try it!

Glad you like it. I went through about 10 ff masks until I started using the Hybrid early after its release. The one thing that solved the problem of leaks and poor head strap for me was to take a head grear strap from an old Resmed ff mask and use it in place of the one that comes with the Hybrid I have been doing so without problems others report with the mask.

You probably had the original headgear that came with the Hybrid. It was flimsy and many complained about it. If you ever order another Hybrid you will get the improved, heavier headgear. It does a good job for me and I go for many months without having to readjust this headgear.

Muse-Inc,

I'm still trying to find the one mask that will work on a small face, small nose and small chin. Plus a mask that takes care of my mouth breathing would be great ... one that doesn't destroy the bridge of my nose (forget a FFM!).

So my questions are to that end.

With the Hybrid nasal pillows and mask all within one dimension ... if the pillows don't fit right when you've snugged up the chin flap (pillows are too close or too far away) ... is there any way to adjust the mask to fit right?

What if the angle of the pillows is not right to comfortably and correctly enter the nostrils ... is there a way to adjust them to fit? For example, my Swift LT For Her has an adjustment for the angle of the pillows entering the nostrils ... which for me is critical in getting the pillows to enter my nostrils correctly (directly and not at an angle).

I hope my questions make sense.

Thanks.

OK, based in my experience, here goes. I have a narrow face with a small jaw & chin but I have large nares in a narrow nose. I use the small oral cushion and large pillows, the chin flap is not adjutable it's part of the oral cushion. I set my pillows at the highest position as there is fair amt of distance between my nose and the top of my mouth. I really need the pillows' opening to be slightly longer not wider, so I looped 2 small ponytail scrunchies together and then loop each end thru the top mask strap...then the looped 'knot' in the middle of this elastic 'strap' goes outside the top flange of the pillows which snugs them up a bit against my nose stopping that slight leak. Occasiobally I have to fiddle with the angle of the pillow but it's pretty easy to tug it a bit to adjust while the pressure is on. Because the RespCare Hybrid comes with 3 sizes of oral cushion, 3 sizes of pillows, and allows for 2 height positions of the pillows, it's pretty easy to get a good fit. Hope this helps. Cpap.cpm has mask insurance is case this mask is jut not suited to your facial anatomy so you can return it. Might ck and see if Babette is running trials on it.

Rooster has posted a great thread on fitting this particular mask.

Muse-Inc,

Thanks for your reply.

I forgot to ask ... is there the typical seal problem with the oral portion of the mask?

The kind I run into with the large seal area from a Comfortgel Nasal or Full Face Mask?

I should also ask if that same seal area leaves marks on your face from the seal pressure. I take Coumadin, which has made my face/skin super sensitive.

Thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions.

Isn't the ladies' tights fix a lot simpler than the ponytail scrunchies fix?

(Damn, I hope no one in the office finds out I ask such questions.)

No tights in the house that night but I did have some of the scruncies; I tried some skinny elastic first but it was too stretchy, so I tried the scrunchies. Besides this new 'strap' doesn't go around my head, just from the top head strap by the clip around the pillows to other strap...all in the front of my face sorta of over the mask.

Good grief is it ever. I just ordered it a few minutes ago...Like Spirit, I have bad allergies and have been struggling with congestion. The Liberty didn't work for me. I couldn't get the pillows to seal. Hopefully, this will work...

Once you have the Hybrid maybe you can post a detailed critique and comparison to the Liberty.
Opps someone needs some more sleep

I have the Innomed Hybrid on order and my fingers crossed. I can't get the Liberty to stop leaking as the pillows pop out while i move in bed, I have not got it in me to go and purchase some tights yet

As i have tried both sizes of the Liberty and will get to try the Hybrid I suppose i could post my opinion as i do value other peoples mask reviews, especially when they post an avatar photo of their face so you can compare face shape/size to your own

So I watched my DVD tonight because years ago, Rooster said to. It didn't help at all. Maybe because I'm a lady user and not a man. The Mirage LIberty DVD just showed some man and his lady happily spending the night because he fitted his Liberty correctly. Are there no instructions from manufacturers about female users? Am I the only one fighting genetic mouth breathing apeneic tendencies from the girly side of things? Ladies, am I right? I am allergic to adhesive tape so do I have to tie some cut off hose to my face? Surely, we pay enough to have properly fitting devices. C'mon!

I can't speak to the Liberty, Ivory... but as a female, I haven't had trouble fitting the Hybrid. Then again I'm not one for watching the fitting instructions unless I think that something's wrong.

Errr, are you talking about Rooster's use of ladies tights ? I wear the Hybrid not the Liberty and need slightly longer pillows (not wider) to eliminate the tendency of springing a leak at the very tip of my nose. I had 2 short ponytail scrunchies in the house (no ladies tights), so I looped them together to create a 'strap.' I put each loop through the top head strap by the clip, then put the looped-together knot outside the top flange of the pillows which nicely snugs them up against my nose with mild tension and voila, no more leak. The new 'strap' sits in front of my face on the outside of the mask unlike the ladies tights which goes around the head.
