Under the yellow lightbulb above, there is a section called, "Help for New or Struggling CPAP Users" It will hopefully answer the question of time until one feels better for you. (The short answer is that most of us take a while.)

For the question of strap slippage, a major complaint of mine, please consult our own rested gal's Lab Rat Awards, where you will find many suggested solutions for this, and other, problems associated with various masks. Upon whom do they test these things, anyway? Men and extremely short-haired women???

Here are data results from my first month (since resetting the SD card) using the PR System One!

Image

I am very pleased with the results. You can see a general downward trend for the whole month.

I can also tell you they're more "zero point" days here, than I ever had with my previous machine. 13 of them to be exact... I've never had that many AHI's in the zero point something range!

So how much of this can be attributed to the DS550HS ? Not sure... but I am hoping it will continue!

Well I've mentioned before that I thought the A-Flex (or something about the machine) seems different. I love it. What ever it is... it's smooth. Maybe it's the fact that the whole machine is much quieter. But the A-Flex feels slightly smoother to me. I am running at the 2 setting.

Rain out... it's never happened! And you can see my humidifier setting has settled in at 3. I keep my room at about 73 degrees under air conditioning. No problems so far. I really love the humidifier's large capacity and easy removal and fill up.

After about 5 and a half weeks of using this machine... I am very pleased.

Congrats on your great results. I think you mean "below one" days; it's impossible to have an AHI below zero.

I wonder if the smoothness is a result of the machine taking into account mask resistance.

Ooops! You guys are right. I meant below one... or "zero point something" days.

ozij - That's a good point to bring up. But irrelevant in my case, since I am not using the mask resistance feature. I am not using a Respironics mask, and I have no idea of what setting I would use for my Activia LT. So that feature is turned off for now. I have yet to see the numbering system used on there masks. I couldn't find it on the FullLife. The choices are X1 through X5.

So what ever "smoothness" I perceive is coming from somewhere else.

Just got the pro version of this machine yesterday. Currently have a sinus infection so I dont have a very good feel for it yet, but so far I'm pretty impressed with it. I did notice a tremendous improvement in rainout, I even had the humidity cranked to 5 to help with my sinus infection.

I also am extremely interested in obtaining software for this. I popped the SD card into my computer and it was mostly a buch of files that didint have a file extention. (100.001 200.002 etc) I opened a few of them in a text viewer and its pretty much just gibberish. symbols and such... kind of like how a .jpg would look if you opened it with a text viewer. Its probably encripted or just some strange file format. There were a few text files that I could look at. Seemed like it was just information about the serial number and humidity settings and such.

Does anyone know if this machine can be unlocked or adjusted at home? I know my old respironics unit could be unlocked by holding a couple of buttons when plugging it in...

Anyway, I would be happy to answer any questions anyone has about this machine if anyone has any.

blakepro, you can unlock it to get to the provider mode adjustments by doing the following:

Turn the Control Wheel until "Setup" is highlighted.
Press and hold both the Control Wheel and the Ramp Button for at least 5 seconds.
You will hear a quick double beep and the Provider Mode Screen will appear.

It's pretty easy to figure out from there. You will eventually select "Exit" to get out of the provider mode.

You might also want to see page 14 of this thread for some info about the files on the SD card and resetting the data each day, if you don't want to see 7 day/30 averages on the LCD.

Let me know if you need any more info. Congrats on your new machine!

Thanks for all the info Social Monkey. It was your threads and information that helped me get the PR Pro instead of the S8 Elite II.

One thing I noticed is that when I boot up the machine, it mentions a firmware version. Maybe this is just wishful thinking, but wouldnt it be possible for Respironics to update the firmware to include stats for the previous night (in addition to the 7 & 30 day average)?

I know its probably a long shot that they will be "patching" in new features, but seems like its at least plausible.

Is there a way to turn on a backlight for the LCD? Its hard to read in my room. even with the light on.

blakepro, I doubt we would ever see them do anything like that. It's possible, but highly unlikely since they seem to follow the same pattern from there past products.

There is a setting to have the LCD light come on. It is in the "provider" setup mode... "LCD backlight" - ON or OFF.

You want at least the "Pro" or "Auto" model. The lowest is the "plus" and it does not record full data. "Auto" is best. I have the Pro, and I love it.

One thing to watch out for (Because it can be confusing) is the "Pro" model has a feature called "C-flex plus" and DMEs can get confused and think its the plus model when its actually the pro. (my DME was anyway)

Still cant figure out the LCD screen backlight though. As far as I can tell, turning on the LCD backlight actually only backlights the humidity numbers (where as turning it off makes it so the humitity numbers go dark a few minutes after therapy begins.) has anyone actually seen the screen light up?
