I could setup a web cam and do a live U-Stream event. But that would take too long to setup. I won't be able to wait that long to open the box.jdm2857 wrote:Will this event be pay-per-view?

Some cool screen shots!

That is just a few of the screens. When you select something, it does a real cool graphical transition.

Hey, Socialmonkey--You've gone to a lot of effort to show some seriously detailed pics of this new machine, and we all appreciate that!!
I have to admit that I have not followed this thread in detail, but am I to understand that this new machine does not even have a bit of software for us peons who are the purchasers and users of cpap machines?
What is the excitement all about? I just don't follow, I'm afraid.
But then there is no question that I'm still suffering from impairment of sleep deprivation, so it would help me to understand your enthusiasm here.

Re: BIG UPDATE: NEW RESPIRONICS PR Series Auto CPAP Released!
Well, I am very impressed! My initial impression is that IF they provide software for the patient... Philips Respironics has hit a HOME RUN! This thing is awesome.
It will be days, before I can write a full review. But here are a few interesting things, not previously know:
1. It's got a Greenwich Mean Time Offset (setting). Although no adjustable clock, it does allow for time zone offsets. The manual says "This feature is used to synchronize the time with Encore software, if used." [note: it does not say Encore Pro - it only says Encore software]
2. It can adjust for a "Split Night" of therapy. You can adjust the amount of time spent in CPAP therapy before transitioning to Auto-CPAP therapy! You can set it for 120, 180 or 240 minutes minutes. You can also adjust the CPAP pressure, Flex type and setting, the ramp time and ramp starting pressure from the Split Night screen.
3. The light grey area around the controls/LCD window, lights up showing that the heater is on and at what setting. The number for the humidifier shows in an arch, around the Wheel (kind of like the old one). But it only displays for a about 15 or 20 seconds, so the display remains dark (you can optionally setup the display to be a night light - if you prefer). I had no idea the grey area could display other info. See this picture:

It's hard to capture the true beauty of this with a camera and a flash. Also the color of the hose, matches that light grey color scheme. With the whole dark grey/light grey theme (which is nicer in person) it is carried on with much more of a balanced look (when the hose is connected). It really is cool looking! Better than any of the pictures I saw in the brochure.
Sound: It appears to be very very quiet! At least with the brief testing I did, and with my mask on under my normal A-Flex setting... it's silent! I could not hear it working. My son came in the room, and could hear the "breathing sound" from the machine. But it appears to be much more silent than my old Auto-M. Maybe it was just because I was the one doing the breathing... but I could barely hear this thing at all.
So that's my initial reaction. The true test will come in time. Will it provide overall better therapy? That is the big question and the main reason for my hopeful enthusiasm. Although I have to say that my Auto-M sent me off with a fond fair well last night. Because I had an "all time low" AHI of 0.3 last night! Now that's a tuff act to follow. So show me what your made of System One!

Re: BIG UPDATE: NEW RESPIRONICS PR Series Auto CPAP Released!
That's because I was just working on that. I had not discovered it until I read the Humidifier manual. And I am glad I read it. Because until I did, I couldn't figure out how to get the top off the humidifier tank. There is a little release tab in the center hole that unlocks the top of the water tank (for cleaning or adding water). I can't wait to use this tonight! I was always forgetting to turn off the separate humidifier I was previously using... it's going to be nice to have an all-in-one unit that works!Guest wrote:socal - you didn't upload pics of how cool it looks when it's on - how the numbers light up in white around the dial! lol
Guest... you must work for Respironics? How else would you have known that? If I worked for them... I would be monitoring this board looking for how our new product was being received. So fair, this early adopter is very impressed!

Re: BIG UPDATE: NEW RESPIRONICS PR Series Auto CPAP Released!
Whats the quantity of water in the resevoir? How would it compare to the F&P HC300?
Can you fill it by talking the hose off the top and dropping in a funnel or do you have to slide the thing out?
Can you tell when you reach the fill mark without sliding it out?
The rainout question is the next thing. I have the Aussie heated hose and I wonder if that will conflict with its auto sensor?

From the screen shots, it looks like it still has only the 7 and 30 day average data display. No single night data display.

Re: BIG UPDATE: NEW RESPIRONICS PR Series Auto CPAP Released!
It says holds (325 ml) 11 oz. at the recommended water level. I think the F&P has a Chamber Water Capacity = 1 2/3 Cups. So my fuzzy math says that's a little less than 11 oz. ? It is a huge improvement over the old M series water tank. The pathetic old M humidifier, is the reason why I used the F&P HC150.no_more_headaches wrote:Whats the quantity of water in the resevoir? I wouldn't fill it by removing the hose. That is more trouble than flipping the lid (with a convenient release lever on the front). The tank then slides easily out. You then don't have to remove the top to fill it. It looks like they have done a great job with the redesign. Also the heating element inside, is slightly spring loaded, like the F&P. Looks like it will heat well.
Yes, you can see the max. fill line from the outside.
I have no idea how the a heated hose would effect it's new features. It monitors room temperature as well as humidity (it would be really cool if I could see those numbers). So if it works really well, then why would you need a heated hose? Time will answer this one.

Re: BIG UPDATE: NEW RESPIRONICS PR Series Auto CPAP Released!
That appears to be the case. I am still reading the manuals. Unless I missed something, that is a disappointment.jdm2857 wrote:From the screen shots, it looks like it still has only the 7 and 30 day average data display. No single night data display.
You can read System Leaks, AHI, Periodic Breathing, and 90% Pressure... but only 7 and 30 day averages. Bummer. So I will be resetting it everyday, until I get software. Come on Philips Respironics... this is a premium machine! How hard is it to turn off features in the Pro version, and release the home version! Come on! I will be happy to beta test for you.
This is YOU being in TOUCH with your CUSTOMERS (as you claim)... so ACT NOW!
The manuals are much improved... smaller and better written.
