CPAP Pillow Trial

Post by SleepGuy » Fri Jun 19, 2009 2:59 pm

Several months ago a few pillow fanatic types agreed to take the new Regenesis pillow for a test drive and report back, including MoneyGal from the forum here.

Some of her observations have prompted me to open a product challenge of sorts to compare the functionality of the Regenesis pillow to the leading CPAP pillows. Specifically, MoneyGal reported:
Here's the difference: with the CPAP pillow, I get a pillow with cutouts that I can conform to. With your pillow, the pillow conforms to ME. It is the complete opposite. You know? I can nestle down into the Regenesis pillow, confident that it will continue to support and soothe me through the night. I already have a big, strange intrusion into my sleeping - a CPAP mask and machine. It is important to me that I retain some control over the rest of my sleeping environment, and that it be comfortable, supportive, adaptive, and welcoming.

This product is brand new and I am trying to generate as much feedback as possible before investing in marketing and new inventory. I've learned that the best time to optimize a product is when it's brand new and the good people here have been extremely helpful in my endeavors to develop useful products to help us patients tolerate and perhaps even enjoy our CPAP "experience."

Participants will receive a free, unfilled Regenesis pillow and pillow case as well as references to a variety of of low-cost sources for hulls (you'll need about 5 pounds of hulls). In other words, participants will need to source their own hulls. Alternatively, participants may send me $15 to cover shipping (yes, it costs that much) and will receive a filled pillow.

Participants must also own and use one of the leading CPAP pillows. The only other requirement is honest feedback provided however you like. There is no expectation for positive feedback! This trial is about new product optimization, not using the boards for hawking wares, so in reality I am hoping to get lots of "constructive criticism" through this process.

If you are interested please send details to me via email at bret@pursleep.com.

Wow, I'm seeing a lot of interest on this trial.

Answers to questions: I will send you a PayPal money request if you want to go with the $15 option.

Also, any participants who also qualify for the HozeBoss trial (see separate thread re Travel Products), please make a note because there's no extra shipping charge on my side for sending both. So far I've only seen one who would like to participate in both trials.

Here's the link to the other trial thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=37793&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=15

******************************************************

I am looking for about 10 people to test the recently modified hose support product (Hoze Boss). It's small enough to fit in your pocket and traveling is very simple because you simply remove the Command Adhesive from the wall and leave the reels attached to the hose. To set it back up just attach the hook with a new Command Adhesive about 2 feet above the pillow. It takes seconds and the reels just pack with the hose (I've checked them through security many times without problem).

I would very much appreciate honest feedback, provided in whatever form you feel comfortable using (public or private) and have no expectation for positive reviews. If you are interested please send me an email (bret@pursleep.com) and describe a little about your situation, why you would like to try the product, and provide a mailing address. All information will be maintained in strict confidence and will not be used for any other purpose than the trial.

The new product format looks like this and seems to work well:

3M Coupon!

Post by Muffy » Sat Jun 20, 2009 3:08 pm

While "Free" would be an excellent price for that hose hanging system, for those who use the "Muffy System", 3M has a coupon promotion for their hooks:

http://www.3m.com/us/home_leisure/comma ... ctod=15:32

http://www.3m.com/us/home_leisure/comma ... coupon.pdf

However, the coupons are good only for today and tomorrow (maybe Monday). That "Date of Expiration" thing is very confusing to me. If it "expires" on 6/22/09, then it would seem that it isn't any good on 6/22/09, but I have to admit that I never tried to redeem a coupon on the "Day of Expiration". I'm always too afraid that the cashier would yell out, "HEY! THIS LADY"S TRYING TO PASS AN EXPIRED COUPON! CALL SECURITY!" And then the 87 year old security guy at Walmart would come hobbling out, get all excited and have a heart attack right there on the spot. Of course, my pending order would be stuck there in the register, cause don't you know at that point the cashier sure isn't going to stop CPR to take my MasterCard.

Even if he did (customer service, the guard's toast anyway), it would probably be my luck that the expiration date on the MasterCard would that day too, so now that there is this HUGE crowd around, and the cashier now yells "HEY! THE LADY WHO JUST KILLED THE SECURITY GUY IS AT IT AGAIN!" By that time, I'm sure the SWAT Team would be there, and you KNOW they're just waiting to "light up" a shopper engaging in capital coupon fraud.

It seems to me that Muffy (before the change) offered to trial this pillow and provide honest feedback. Or did I just dream that?

Bret, would you be willing to send one to Muffy to try out and compare with his more economical alternative? If the design of yours is better, I feel sure that Muffy will be willing to acknowlege that, even if she isn't happy about the price.

I would like to try one, myself, but I'm afraid I would lose too many night's sleep trialing it. I have a hard time adjusting to change.

A Much Better Idea...

Post by Muffy » Sun Jun 21, 2009 3:30 am

OutaSync wrote:It seems to me that Muffy (before the change) offered to trial this pillow and provide honest feedback. Or did I just dream that?
Actually, Bev, I think it was Mike that volunteered Muffy, but you know me! Always willing to help!

Along those lines, here's a $1.00 off coupon for Command products that's good till December:

$1.00 Off Command Products

If the only important component of that system is the Command hook, why not just get a Command hook?

Speaking of willing to help, don't you just know that RG has a collection of posts on hose hangers:

Link To RG's Hose Hangers Link

The other thing that strikes me as an important consideration is that the hanger should end up at least somewhere between 1 to 3 feet over the bed, which makes the plant hanger idea by Bellcrest (operational photos by dieselgal) an outstanding idea:

Plant Hanger Photo

And depending on how much you want to spend, some sort of plant-hanging hardware, depending on how fancy you want to get (plain hook, retractable or not, gold-plated or brass, etc.) will only run somewhere between 49 cents and 15 bucks.

Inexpensive Retractable Plant Hangers

A consideration that may appeal to some folks is that during the day, you could put something there that would make it look like the primary purpose of the plant hanger is for something else.

Like a plant, for instance.
