When it rains, it pours...
Re: When it rains, it pours...
Got the blue o-ring chamber to stop leaking by simplely reseating the o-ring by rotating its curve so it did not exactly follow the curve of the plastic chamber kind of hard to explain but it worked. It seemed to have a snugger but slight crooked fit. The chamber with the blue o-ring started to leak after I took it apart daily to clean and dry it and I was very carefull to always reseat it exactly in the same oval curve which most likely caused the leaks. If I would have just rotated the seal it would have saved me lots of hassle and some $. The old chamber is on its best behavior with double threats of being thrown away. Taking the thing apart daily to clean/dry it just increases the chances of leaks. Never had any problems with leaks or health since stopping taking it apart to clean/dry it.
Got fed up with leaks and water running dry so Bought a new F&P 150 for home use for leak free/increased water volume. Got a new chamber with black seal for travel use and kept old chamber for backup and took both for a out of town trip. Used the new one first night leak free but for some reason used the old one on the 2nd night. Well the old one worked fine after having its seal rotated a bit. A bonus was that my nasal conjestion went down when I lowered thehumidifer setting to next to nothing so maybe the F&P purchase was not needed to use the M-pro.

I would suggest that Respironics simply send the O-rings back to NASA.

Here's an interesting old discussion about two newer versions of the water chamber that Respironics came out with after the original M humidifier:

Pictures of all three water chamber designs are here:

The newest version... the "staggered" or "J tube" chamber design ... apparently doesn't fit the original M humidifier itself. The staggered J tube water chamber goes with a later design of the humidifier itself.
I just stick with my separate Fisher & Paykel HC 150 humidifier. I use that good old reliable F&P humidifier with the M Auto with A-Flex and with the M BiPAP Auto.

Good ole Feynman, in the hearing of politicians, no less: "Reality must take precedence over public relations."Gerald wrote:Jnk.....

Being a premiere schentist, Feynman had integrity.....and.....intellectual honesty. That's why Rogers found him "difficult"....
The world lost a brilliant teacher when Feynman passed.

I'd thought about that, but I am unsure as to how to test the chamber at boost pressure outside its housing. Any ideas? I'll refrain from freezing any o-rings until I hear back.Gerald wrote:It's possible that it might not leak at atmospheric pressure....but will leak when in operation.....when it's under "boost pressure" (so to speak).

Darn good thing Feynman never ventured into any A10 discussions around here...jnk wrote:Feynman, in the hearing of politicians, no less: "Reality must take precedence over public relations."

Chris....
About the only thing I can think up....is some sort of flat plexiglass piece...to which we've cemented a 45 degree PVC fitting...that can be attached to the end of the CPAP hose.
Trim the flat plastic piece so that it can be held against the seals of both holes in the tank....set the blower to straight 20-cm boost......rev it up.....and see if we get lift-off.

Don't you have any Lansinoh lanolin for breastfeeding mothers? I'm sure that would work!!! It soothes, heals, and protects dry, cracked skin (and probably o-ring seals )
