Now there's a scary thought -- being an inspiration!

I'm pleased, too!

I've mentioned several times having had surgery for endometrial cancer on 7 April 2008. For my first two years, I had to have labs every four months. All of them were NEGATIVE.

At my last visit, the oncologist told me it could now be every six months. And that the labs could be done by my regular gynecologist -- that she (the oncologist) didn't think I needed her any more!

Got my results for the May labs -- NEGATIVE!

Only three years until I can be declared cancer-free... and take the dream vacation Harry and I have been thinking of through the Canadian Rockies... on the Rocky Mountaineer.

Yeah, I twitch, every time, until I get the results. My husband points out that if something were wrong, they'd contact me at once. So the longer it takes, the more likely it is that the news is good news. But I still twitch.

It makes for a very good day to hear your good news. Just today I was thinking I hadn't seen you around here much lately, and here you are! Happy Negative Test Results Day!

Kiralynx, I have thought about you several times in the last few weeks, wondering why you hadn't been posting lately! With the devastation in the Gulf Coast, your area is on all our minds.

It's great to read that you got good news once again! What a relief that must be each time. I hope your therapy is going well.

Congratulations!

Just saw this long article on Sunday from Susan Ager in the Detroit Free Press. Her experience with cancer and surgery. I thought it was pretty balanced and helpful:

Kathy,

Things have been kind of crazy around here -- my sister came in, and we spent around 10 days clearing out more of my Mom's things... always very emotional.

Plus, it was my Dad's 86th birthday. Last year wasn't good for him, as Mom was slipping into her last illness, so we worked very hard at making it special for him. I fixed Oyster and Artichoke Bisque, Oysters Rockefeller, Oysters Bienville, Oysters Fitzpatrick, and Pecan Pie. Oh, and since my sister and I aren't keen on oysters, I did catfish and shrimp with all of the preps for us.

Busy, busy!

Dream On,

Yes, we're all deeply concerned about what's going on with the Gulf. I don't even want to think about what a hurricane could do with that mess. As I told Kathy, my sis was down, and we were working on making Dad's birthday special. So things got pretty crazy.

It really is a relief each time the tests come back negative. One of the things which still makes me angry is that when I reported my symptoms initially to my PCP, he brushed it off and told me to "lost some weight, and it'll all clear up." Had I followed his advice, I would probably now have terminal cancer. (He's the same one who brushed off my reports of being unable to sleep through the night and missed my apnea. He's no longer my PCP.)

It's the kind of thing that makes you keenly aware of how precious every day is.
