New to c-pap use-another question

Post by hope2sleep » Sat Jan 03, 2009 11:46 pm

Hello,

As I was laying there trying to go to sleep tonight (my second night with my new machine) I began to wonder/worry ~ what if the power should go off when I am asleep ~ I have the full face mask ~ will I still be able to breathe? I was worried ~ would I suffocate?

I'm glad there is a place I can come to ask questions.

Thank you

There are exhale ports on the mask to prevent that from happening..

Hi, it's happened to me a few times (live in the middle of nowhere) and all that happens is when the machine shuts off, I wake up - your body is not going to quit on you that easily and will awaken you long before there's any danger of suffocation or anything else. What you can do though, is look under 'battery power' (Search) on the forum here and gets lots of info on how to set up a system for when the power's out long enough that you need to sleep and use your Cpap.

H2S, good mask choice.
UM is the blue collar mask.....no flash, it just works.

Not only does it have the exhale port, it has
Anti-Asphyxia Valve Membrane, built into the elbow.
If your machine goes off, you'll be fine.
It's there just to put your mind at ease.

....now get some sleep.
