I picked up my AutoSet II today!!

Post by 2girlsmom » Mon Nov 24, 2008 2:58 pm

I am excited!! I returned my Elite II to the DME and picked up my AutoSet II. I'll sleep with it tonight for the first night. The sleep doc didn't enable settling, so I switched that on because I tried it just now and it ramped up while I was awake. The DME said the docs at my sleep clinic are pretty adamant about getting exactly what they asked for on machines. I am looking forward to seeing how tonight goes!

Great news, I'll be very surprised if you don't really enjoy it.

Very quiet, and that EPR version II is a great exhale relief feature.

Enjoy

Settling = Ramp

Settling is the terminology used with the Resmed Auto machines.

How do I post a report if I want to post the actual one from ResScan?

I checked and it is set 7-11. This DME is really on the ball so it would have shocked me if they didn't get it right.

I'll post tomorrow after I see the data!

Posting from a ResScan report involves a few steps:

-Select to print the report which opens a new window with the PDF document.
-Scroll down to where the charts are and click on the chart you want to post.
-Now right click and select "Copy image".
-Paste that in PAINT and save as a JPG
-Upload to an online image storage service such as PhotoBucket

Well, not exactly. The ResMed has a ramp feature in cpap mode, which functions like other manufacturer's ramp feature... it gradually increases up from a given starting pressure up to the the single given therapy pressure over a given period of time, to allow the patient to get off to sleep before full treatment pressure is applied. Settling is used in apap mode, and it starts with the minimum given pressure and stays there for the given settling time, ignoring apnea or flow limit events until that given time has expired, then begins to respond to flow limitations or apneas with pressure increases up to the maximum given pressure. It does not gradually increase pressure at all during the settling time, unlike the ramp mode, which does.

You have a good machine, and I trust it will serve you well.

Hope this helps!

Time to try to go to sleep now. I stayed awake late to make myself really tired because I am so excited about this new machine. Only an apnea sufferer would get my excitement.
