How about a kitchen gadget store? You know that cotton twine that you truss chickens with before roasting? That should be clean since it goes on food.

Not a bad idea actually. I dismissed it because it was so thin - but we could braid it. That said, just because it is to be in contact food doesn't make it automatically safe. I think I will contact my local health food store's meat department though and see what they use. Thanks!
