Sleepy55,

That is a great result & I am really intrigued that at 20/22 CMs your tidal flow is sooo low. But, your SpO2 so high.

Are you of a very slight build ? - perhaps very short ?

It is always interesting to see data that varies from the norm & yours does but if it works it works & that is terrific.

Am guessing you have severe CAs as that is the only possible explanation for the settings you describe. If not then you need better advice.

Am going to be out of contact for a few days but could assist further if needed.

Good luck

PS can anyone pm the clin manual here as I am not able at the moment.
Hello,

I'm a newbie as well and was amazed to discover a forum for sleep apneas as well as the machines that are used. I am also using the BIPAP S/T and was as perplexed as the original topic poster about the alarm. I wished the person that set it up for me would have warned me about this. The next day I inquired about disabling the alarm and was told that he could probably adjust the timing of the alarm so that it may not go off during an apnea if I recover within like 20 secs. Seems to me that the alarm defeats the whole purpose of having this machine for sleep as neither I or my wife were able to get any sleep as a result of the alarm which is unfortunate since I noticed a real difference in how I was able to instantly get drowsy when ready to go to sleep and that hasn't happened for as long as I remember.

So anywho, I'm am a bit confused, or rather a lot confused. Is there a way to disable the alarm on this device or is it about adjusting the settings so that the thing doesn't go off in the first place? And regarding the information about the card reader and software, is this the way one would go about changing the settings from the smartcard so that the alarm is disabled? I know that the smartcard is an RX so I am hesitant to do anything with the card as I really hate the idea of sharing my room with Dale the serial killer who won't give me the bottom bunk unless I put on some lipstick. And of course he's gunna want me to put on Red or something gaudy like that.

Thanks.

Well actually I think I figured it out. I really don't get why the provider wouldn't make sure that the alarm is off for apneas. I can understand if the doctor specifically wanted me to track them for him, but that's what the two nights of sleep study is for. Oh well, I'd still love to chat/PM with an expert if possible to ensure that I did it correctly and perhaps other little secrets that will assist me in understanding how to make the best use of my machine.

Peace out.
