Liberty Fix

Post by sleepngo » Mon Aug 11, 2008 1:27 pm

To anyone who has the Liberty FF mask with nasal pillows.

I use the large Liberty and the mask works good, except for one little problem the arc of the mask is too large and the depth of the mask was too shallow. Well I finally figure out a way to fix both.

I took my handy dandy propane torch and applied some heat to the inside arc of the lower and upper mask frame, without the cushion installed and squeezed in on the frame. I moved it in about an 1/8 of an inch, or closed the arc by about an 1/8 of an inch. It worked!

Now when I apply the mask, it seals completely without having to over tighten the lower straps to keep the sides of the mask from leaking.

I no longer have to snug the mask so tight in order to keep the sides from leaking, causing the mask to put too much pressure on the lower jaw, causing my pressure to increase to overcome the tongue being pushed back too far, closing the air way.

The mask feels very comfortable now and seems to stay in place better when changing positions, without leaking. Almost forgot. I solved another problem, the lower male clips had a tendency to come lose when moving around, to solve that problem I cut four eraser-heads off of some old pencils and loged them between the big arc of the male clip, they stay in fine and allow the clips to stay latched.

Just thought I would pass along these tips in case anyone else is having the same problem that I was having.

Regards,

Dan

Glad it worked for you and you didn't ruin the mask.

Definitely not a modification for the unskilled.

So uhhh .... do you work for the CIA interogations unit?

Good going!
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

No...I think that the cattle prod would be more appropriate for the CIA interrogations unit, something that the decider would approve of.

PS...I did try hot boiling water first but couldn't get it to soften up enough to bend. If you use the torch keep it moving and heat for just a few seconds and just heat the upper and lower frame grooves.

Customizing the liberty mask to fit my face has really paid off. I had no leaks or problems maintaining a airtight seal for the nine hours I slept last night, also no more extreme pressure on the upper or lower jaw, too bad ResMed can't make a deep large liberty mask to fit a face like mine, OH well all I have do now is change the mouth cushion from time to time, this one is a little over a year old.
