flashing blue light

Post by crossfit » Sat Aug 02, 2008 9:18 pm

Any ideas on why my humidifier's light is now flashing? I did what the manual said and tried unplugging and replugging it in. I also took the apap off and put it back (light stopped flashing for about a minute that time). The manual isn't helpful. It says to take it back and ask them. Its the weekend so I can't do that until Monday.

I'm not that familiar with the M Series.....and there are apparently several variations as to the power leads, but if it was me, I'd disconnect the power to the humidifier (if that's a possibility) and use it in "pass-over" mode till you can get it figured out.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm..... Mine doesn't flash. Don't have a clue. Can you shut the entire machine down for about an hour, then plug it all in again?

That's my standard response to all electronic difficulties. Learned it from some tech-support guy on the phone from Pakistan...

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!

I will try that Babette. I already have it in passover mode but the plugs hook together so you can't turn the power off and run the apap only without taking it fully out of the system.

Mine did that to me a week or so ago -- it turned out that it was not plugged into the power supply properly. (actually I hadn't plugged in the humidifier at all!!! I forgot when I came back from a trip -- I don't generally take the humidifier when I go to the coast). If the light is flashing it's in passover mode as the heater doesn't have power......to make the flashing light go off you only need to turn the humidifier off.....(I think that works)

The M series with a humidifier has a 2 part power system. One provides 110V to the humidifier (kind of a bullet shape) and the other provides 12V to the blower unit (a block shape)....the "bullet" shaped part has a cord coming out of the side that connects to the humidifier. The block has a 12V wire that goes to the blower and a power connection for the cord if you're not using the humidifier. The power cord needs to be removed from the block and the bullet shaped part snapped onto the end where the power cord connects. Then the power cord goes into the end of the bullet shaped part and plugs into the wall or power strip.....(hope that isn't too confusing)

When mine flashed, I just had to make sure that both parts were plugged together and make sure it was plugged into the power strip.....

Good luck!!!!
cheers

well, the light goes off if there is no power to it. But if there is power to it and it is set to off, it still blinks. Also, the two hour break I gave the whole system didn't fix it nor did unplugging all the plugs and repluging them in. I think I will be calling my handy dandy CPAP Fixit Dude on Monday.

Mine does that occasionally if the water tank is not seated properly. Try pulling it out and putting it back in again if you haven't tried that already.

I have. Stupid thing. But what I haven't checked is taking it out and making sure the reservoir itself is really closed properly. That is next on the checklist of things to try.

Mine flashes when the patient reminder goes off at 30-60-90 days. Look at the LCD when it flashes. You can turn off or set the the reminder in the set up mode

Mine say resporonic needs more of my hard earned money

well, I will check but I have had mine only 12 days so I can't imagine that it is the reminder thing. Besides, wouldn't the main machine flash? This is only the humidifier.

Okay. So, I took my humidifier back in today. The DME simply gave me a new one and said that the rental for this new one is no charge while mine is being sent back to be fixed. I asked if she had any idea why it started this. She said it could be many things but possibly water in the parts that shouldn't have water. Apparently the little rubber gasket has been known to twist a bit once inside the machine and leak.

Anyway, I am set back up correctly again and had no problems.

by the way, since it is also my doc, I asked for a copy of my prescription. After a few minutes of finding the right person who knew how to print it out from their complex computer system, I have it.

this is what it says:

diagnosis 780.53 - OSA w/Hypersomnia

pressure settings 4-10 auto adjust (oops - DME set me for 4-20!)

Items: Small CPAP machine with download capacity to record AHI and Leaks (with auto adjust feater), heated humidifier, mask, tubing, headgear, filters, chin strap, nasel pillows, cushion, water chamber.

I guess that is pretty thorough. Funny though that the DME set it for 4-20. After observing the data I set it to 9-15 and it does once in a while go to 15 but 90% is around 11. So much for DME's being the only ones who can adjust them huh?

My humidifier light started flashing after my dear cat sat on the unit the other morning..... but then again it might have started doing that during the night. That would seem right on a wiring issue as I had just come home from an overnight trip and did take my machine. I noticed the next morning that water tank was still full, so I am guessing there is no heating going on and very little humidification happening. Hmmm, that could explain the nasal symptoms that are starting up. Guess I will have to take mine in tomorrow morning to the fix it guys!

I had that flashing blue light happen to me last week and I wasn't anywhere near Kmart. I turned my machine on the blue light on the humidifier dial began flashing and the screen on the pap showed 17E which is my expiratory pressure. The machine would not start and I had to unplug it and leave it unplugged for a while before it would start up normal.
Before I did get it to start up normal I did remove the pap from the machine and power that up and it worked. Once I put the pap back in the humidifier it ran fine. I am thinking it was not a good connection between the humidifer and pap.

That happened to me the other night. I got my machine in Oct. I turned off the machine to trade out wet pillows for dry pillows and when I turned it back on, alarm and flashing blue light. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it was fine. Not problems since then (fingers crossed).

This happened to my machine a few weeks ago and it was due to the heating element failing.
