I could see them suggesting it for control of bleeding, never though about that,

http://intranasal.net/Epistaxis/default.htm

so it must be okay to cut off blood supply to that area for a few days
someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

Good article Snoredog. Now I feel a little more comfortable about using it to control bleeding. I guess it would be a good item to have on hand for emergency nose bleeds.

Day five and bleeding has stopped, just a little discharge when using sinus rinse. Stop using pain meds and Afrin, now rinse three times a day, both sides look clean and have a nice pink color. Right side is pain free and looks pretty normal. Left side still is numb in some areas, will see the Doc. Monday to address that issue. Breathing good through both nostrils but occasional congestion which is relieved with sinus rinse, stopped using decongestants to allow the turbinates to shrink without rebound. hope to get back on the Bipap Monday. Lack of good quality sleep is starting to catch up with me.

Day 6: My ENT looked everything over, left and right nostril and checked to see how the two inferior turbinates were healing. Said everything looks good, can now go to full sinus rinse and use my Bipap auto with Biflex.

We discussed the numbing sensation and he said it is edema cause by soft tissue trauma. can go on a ten day course of prednisone or allow nature to take it course. I chose nature.

Breathing is very good will get better as the turbinates shrink. all in all the surgery went very well had no complications except for a little numbing on the left side, will go away on it's own.

I was told to go back to doing my regular activities, continue with the sinus rinse and see him in four weeks, if any concerns come up to call or E-Mail him and he would get me in for a checkup.

I am happy that I had this procedure done and my ENT said it should provide good air flow for many years, that most who undergo this procedure never have to do it again.

Bipap here I come, I am looking forward to 7-10 hours sleep tonight.

Day 7: My first night on Bipap auto with Biflex since surgery went very well. Set my machine to 12/7 cm, with PS of 5 and Biflex set to 3. Had no flow limitations and nostrils were clear throughout the session, set my H/H to 1 to keep sinus passages from drying out. OA of 1.0 and HI of 1.1, got 7 hours sleep, woke up early at 6:30 am, felt so good got up, climbed on the roof and cleaned out my swamp cooler. We in California are in a scorching heat wave, with temps reaching 110 to 112 degrees for several days in a row. Making sure cooler will hold up under blistering heat.

My nose held up very good using my OptiLife nasal pillows mask, no sore nostrils and had no problems with leaks or keeping the mask on.

No problems with bleeding or nasal discharge after getting up this morning, nasal passages were free and clear, didn't experience any congestion.
Breathing very well and nostrils feel open and clear with out any restrictions.

I have to say the surgery has been very beneficial and came out better than I had anticipated. No real problems or complication just a little edema on the left side, should improve considerably in the next few weeks.

Regards to all,

Dan
