Newly diagnosed patient

Post by marion80832 » Fri May 20, 2005 12:11 pm

I was sent to a sleep clinic last week. My Dr has not received the results yet but because I stopped breathing several times during the night, I was placed on the mask. I do not know what the brand name was but I am a side sleeper and the mask had a problem with leaking. Is there any particular mask I should avoid or for that matter is there one I should try? At this time I have no information to go on but I am to have a follow up with my Dr week after next. Any advice from someone who has experience?

I'm in the same boat except I get my CPAP on Monday. I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea last week. Survived the testing and another night of wearing the machine. Keep in touch.

This is some information that I was given, and I intend to do just that when I go in to get measured for a full face mask.

I have my CPAP machine S7 Lightweight by Resmed. I am taking that with me, my pillow and I hope they have a bed, other wise I will lay down on the floor. This way you can get the mask that best fits you and you should not have any problems when you get home with everything.

I also would not be forced to take a mask because you are told it is the most popular.

Hi marion!

I urge you to look back at many of the posted topics here. There are many suggestions for masks (but I admit, I forget those suggestions). Read and see what has worked for people. And if you still have questions, you might send a private message to Rested Gal (she's our resident expert on masks, but she'll never admit it). She could give you some good advice, I'm sure. And she's real nice, by the way.

Good luck, and keep us posted.
Oh, be sure to get a copy of the test report. That is good information you should have. Some doctors don't volunteer that information, but it is your right. So if they don't give you a copy, ask for it.
