I bought the CMS 50, with the "wireless option" (which was extra), but as far as I can tell, that just changed the model to CMS 50FW. It can connect (pair) with bluetooth devices, but that's all. Based on my efforts (and an abysmal instruction manual), this unit *cannot* actually communicate through bluetooth. I have tried this with two different computers that have bluetooth, both running SleepyHead, both running the 3 apps that come with the CMS device: SpO2 Assistant, SpO2 Review, and "SpO2". So far only SpO2 Assistant will do anything. SpO2 review will see the CMS device then report "Device Connected: waiting for data ..." [sic]. So 2 of the 3 apps cannot work with the device.
I downloaded an app for my bluetooth-capable android devices called MyFitnessCompanion. Again, the Android devices pair fine with the CMS as "SpO2", but there is no communication to the application. The developer of MyFitnessCompanion is trying to help me get it working, but so far, no luck. (very good customer service if you use other health monitoring devices, please check this app out, it's very cool). Hopefully we can get this working and I can give it a thumbs up for the CMS device as well
It appears bluetooth pairing works, but not bluetooth communication. I've tried every permutation I can to get this working, because I believe now that my apena and SpO2 values during the night are so bad that it's literally destroying my life. Although I have an APAP Resmed machine, it only reports up to 200 CA events per night, but will not "fix" them by respiring for me, so I essentially have apnea that is still not treated. It turns out sleeping is actually important for humans, and not sleeping will destroy a life quite well. Certainly my employer believes the effects of apnea are my own fault and that I should just "get over it." Here's what I hear a lot: "EVERYONE IS TIRED, IT'S THE HUMAN CONDITION, GET OVER IT". My former primary care physician said this to me as well. He's been fired.
My hope was that I could wear it at night and having it record, then put that data into my ResMED data using SleepyHead. Ideally, I was hoping I could get SleepyHead to record my data in real time via bluetooth. I think this is not possible, although again, I could be wrong. It looks like SleepyHead can read the recorded data by itself, although I can get it to recognize my serial device (using the right USB cable!), again, it will not actually communicate. I cannot get SleepyHead to import my .SpO2 files, it seems to want only .SpOr files.
If I could get my pulse and SpO2 data into SleepyHead, then I could start to find some correlations to my diet and lifestyle to my apnea, then adjust those to avoid the apnea. This is killing me.
The ONLY way the CMS 50FW will give you data is through the USB cable and SpO2 Assistant software that comes with the device, and then it will only give it in the .SpO2 format.
If someone knows otherwise, PLEASE correct me, because I desperately want to use the wireless capabilities, or at the very least, integrate my CMS data with the SleepyHead data manually. Thank you!
