Hey Sharon,

You have extra $100's laying around?! Wow! But yeah, it's worth having an extra mask because sleeping without one is absolutely terrible. I'm so sorry you're going through that.

After my septoplasty at the end of August, I was finally able to put away my UMFF and use my beloved little F&P HC406 nasal mask. I'm starting a cold so in addition to using echinacea, vitamin C and cold-fx, I've had to take out my UMFF so I can actually sleep. I was lucky to have a backup.

Good luck on getting your new mask. So, ummm, what's an aura (headrest)? I was curious so I went to cpap.com and can't find one. I'll probably be looking at a new mask someday soon and I'd be curious to see what you like.

Hey Sharon,
As a user of the Aura/Headrest -- what part broke?? Mine's only about 3 months old, so it sounds like I have some time -- I'm trying to get a spare from my DME since I'm up for a replacement mask tomorrow....
They balked the last time, so this time I may just put my foot down.
If I can find out what broke, I may be able to reinforce it and prevent the same from happening to mine....

You guys all reminded me that I need to get my 12V battery interfaces ready -- it's winter and the power may go out and as I've said before -- when we lose power it can be for a week.......cpap.com here I come.....

cheers
goose

hey frap!!! long time no see..how've you been?
no, i don't have extra money laying around...i meant that to be ironic, as i'm sure you can imagine...but after the holidays, i'm going to order another one for back up,and the money will have to come from somewhere because this week has surely sucked

i just went to cpap.com, clicked on cpap masks from the list on the left, clicked on nasal pillow systems, and scrolled down...they call it the headrest now...unfortunately, medigas won't order it in for me so i'm paying for it myself, but in january i think i'll submit the receipt to greenshield and see what i get

well, i'm going to feel a little silly when i tell you and a hundred people tell me how i could've fixed this, but i was due for a new mask anyway...in any case: the piece that has the little vent holes in it broke right off from the bigger hole that it covers...it pretty much shattered because one night i took my mask off in my sleep and it got jammed between my iron headboard and the wall...so when i put it back on and powered up my cpap, the air just came rushing out of there and that's how i realized i had broken that piece off --a rude awakening to say the least

wonderful canada post shows today as my delivery date on-line, but now it's way past quitting time for government employees and there's no sign of it, so if it doesn't show up tomorrow i'm SOL for the weekend

frapilu,
you could also try the short cut, which would be to click on the mask icon at the bottom of goose's last post, and it'll open up the page

well, here it is, sunday the 9th...my email from canada post showed the 6th as delivery date, but, of course, it's the holiday season, they must be swamped, so no mask yet i'm really hoping it shows up tomorrow, it's been a rough week

I feel like I could go without it in the beginning without noticing much difference but if I try to take a night off now I struggle to breathe. I am 110 lbs. less so it should be easier so I was wondering whether once you are dependent on cpap it is more dangerous not using it than before diagnosis. I hope this post wasn't too incoherent.
I understand what you're saying, Elle, but I don't think our central nervous system would get that way. Or that not using cpap would be more dangerous after having used it for awhile. But I don't know. I do know that "not using it" is dangerous period, but of course we all know that.

More likely (imho) you just know now what it feels like to "breathe" easily with cpap while drifting off to sleep. Before cpap, you didn't have anything to compare it to. Perhaps you can feel the difference now as your throat starts relaxing when you drifting toward sleep. The difference with and without.

Congrats on the weight loss! That's terrific!

still no mask...called canada post because it was supposed to be delivered on dec. 6; they told me to call the sender because they have no record of the package; called cpap.com and was told that it's no longer their problem once it's been shipped and to call canada post back and inititate a trace; called canada post back and was told that it's absolutely the shipper's responsibility to trace the package; called cpap.com back and got a much friendlier, more helpful representative who told me they've implemented a new shipping system, which should have resulted in a faster delivery, but that she can't figure out what has happened to my package...she's involved her supervisor who is going to look into my situation and hopefully call me back tomorrow; the upshot is that i still have no new interface and am trying really hard to make the one that i have work, but after a week and a half with virutally no sleep, i feel like i'm falling apart

Darn, ain't that the way it goes. If you had ordered it for a spare and wasn't in serious need it would have been there on the 5th. Hope it shows up real soon.

Sharon- I am sooooo missing my CPAP too! I had gastric bypass last Thursday (was a very good girl and used my CPAP after surgery) Woke up Friday morning and I FELT LIKE CRAP!!!!!!!! I was TOTALLY bloated. Talked with my PCP and we decided that we should give my tummy a rest for a week before I start to reuse my CPAP. My stomach feels 1000% better but I miss my friend.
