download error...Please help!

Wulfman...
Nodzy,
I keep re-reading her post......
It sounds like it IS downloading the data, if she can see it in EPA.
I'm not sure what the "Save as .pdf" thing means. Maybe that's something new in 1.8. Maybe she should try it without saving as .pdf and see what happens.
I'm not sure from her description as to whether it's putting an "interaction" in the list. I assume there's a list of them in 1.8.......
It almost sounds like a "procedural" thing to me.....at this point.

"save in pdf" is one of the options on encore pro after the data has been extracted...it automatically brings up the window that allows me to save it in 'my documents' on the desktop...the other choices are: print, view, do nothing and no matter which one i choose (i've tried each one in turn) i get the same error
the fact that i can view the results in epa is what has me flummoxed...seems to me that the data is being read; i just can't view the raw data, or save it in the folder
one time an error message popped up saying to check connections, but only that one time and not since

I'm a little confused as to what you have written. (but I don't have 1.8 installed on my computers)
This is from the instructions that "Sleepy-in-AL" wrote for the 1.6 version.
62. You should now be on the patient homepage for the patient you just entered. On the left side, select "Download Data" from the "Interactions" group. Then click on "SmartCard Reader". yes
63. Accept defaults for "Referring Physician", "PCP", "Clinician", and date and select "Yes" the smart card is going to be returned to the same patient. Click "OK" yes
64. If you receive a warning that the SmartCard doesn't match the patient, select the appropriate response to continue downloading yes
65. If you have properly run the "Don't Erase data after downloading.reg" mentioned above, you will be asked if you want to erase the SmartCard. Select "No" to preserve the information on the card. yes
66. From here, you can view the downloaded data or exit encorepro and go to MyEncore. To skip to MyEncore, jump to step 70. Otherwise keep going here to view your detailed EncorePro data. right, don't have myencore
67. Double click on the date in the "Interaction List" in the middle of the screen under "Patient Compliance." To see meaningful details instead of just compliance data, select the radio button next to "Full Details" in the Report Options dialog then click "OK"
68. You should now have a "Report Viewer" window. At the top of this window, there are buttons to change the view and page up and down through the report. From the file menu, you can export the report in a number of formats including PDF and HTML.
69. When you are through here, you can close the "Report Viewer" and close "encore pro".
.
.
.
(Qualifier - the part about running the "Don't Erase data after downloading.reg" thing would not apply in 1.8.....nor would the MyEncore commentary) right
.
Does this look like the procedures you're using? so up till the point where you view in myencore, yesAt what point is the problem occurring? after the data has been extracted and when i want to choose to view, save, print or do nothing

Hmmmmm......
If it's allowing you to see the accumulated data in Encore Pro Analyzer, it sounds like it's downloading into the database.
How do you get past the error?
Is there a list of "interactions"? (dates of downloads)

This one has me confused too. I take it that you can't see the Daily Details or any of the reports?sharon1965 wrote:i just can't view the raw data, or save it in the folder

I am not surprise with all these silly Windows problems.Nodzy wrote: Windows only tolerates so many removes and reinstalls of programs before it chokes on leftover program files and goes comatose. I always try to eliminate the exterior variables first before going Win-Registry deep with changes.

How do you get past the error? i don't, lol
How long have you been downloading? one week
Have you always had this problem (error) or did it just start? just yesterday and today
In other words, did the program work "right" previously? yes
Going to bed now......will catch up with this tomorrow.

well, i uninstalled encore pro, re-installed it, re-installed the reader, plugged it back into the main usb instead of the hub and voila, my reports were back to being generated, and saved
thank you so much for all the input...i so appreciate the help!

It's great that you got it resolved.
Hmmmm... I must have missed the word "hub" in your previous comments. It's fairly written in stone that most USB hubs choke Encore Pro. Though several people said that it worked fine through their hub port. Direct USB connection is always best. Yawn, it's far past my time to pillow-ride.

It seemed to be pointing to a software glitch rather than hardware/card/data, etc.
Glad to see you got it functioning properly again.
Best wishes,

You're welcome, Sharon.
Sorry to "bail out" last night, but I didn't know how long to stay up.....I saw your name as being in the chat room and I was getting to the point of needing some sleep.
I'll also use THIS thread to wish you a happy "9 month-a-versary".
(you know you're gonna have to do a similar topic in another 3 months)
May you sleep well and your numbers be good.

Sharon,
I think I had the identical download problem you had (forget my exact error message). After the error message occurred, I would double click on a previous download, view a report, and when I closed the report viewer window, all of a sudden my new, "error-ridden" download was there and available to be viewed without any problems. Unfortunately, when I went to put my smartcard back into the APAP, I would get continuous beeping, indicating a problem with the smartcard.
I solved the problem by erasing the data in Encore Pro, and making sure that subsequent downloads were done by plugging the reader directly into my PC, not into a USB hub.
I know others have reported problems using a USB hub. But, prior to "upgrading" to version 1.8, I never experienced the hub problem.

i knew that i should be plugged directly into the usb port on the pc, not the hub, and originally i was...when i started having problems, i tried, for the sake of argument, plugging into the hub and that's when the light on the reader went from staying red to turning green and i was at least able to read the data (ie. ep analyzer); it was just an attempt to try everything i could think of
having said that, i did plug back into the pc when i re-installed everything and it was working again
who knows why? i think it's meant to make me crazy
