I have a question about Resmed S8 Vantage EPR Auto CPAP Machine. I can't tell from looking at cpap.com--does it have breath relief in auto mode or only in cpap mode? I know this is off-topic for this thread. But this is a competitors product to compete with the m-series aflex, right? I'm feeling ticked off with respironics today and took a peak at what the competitor has to offer.

Ok, I just found the answer to my question out for myself. I would try this machine in a heartbeat if the epr was useable in auto mode. I may consider it in the future, though. It sounds like a nice compromise between bipap and cpap.

I'm just feeling grouchy about the blue led and lack of software or daily data (I have the software, card reader etc--but I don't like that it is such a debacle for everyone to get it!).

At least resmed offers daily data on the screen that you could map yourself if you wanted to do so. It would be soooo easy to keep a notepad by the bed and jot that down every morning and then put it in a spreadsheet if you felt like it.

I'm already doing that to some degree--once a week I download my data and write it on my calendar where I keep a list of daily activities, anything out of the ordinary like consumption of a medication or something--this would allow for correlation to how things affect my sleep. That is how I figured out I can titrate 1 cm of pressure lower if I take a benadryl before bed.

Because some of us HATE Aflex, and prefer Cflex. I run my Apap on Cflex. I don't know why. I just know Aflex doesn't work for me.

But I want the ability to auto titrate. I've just recently done an auto titrate experiment, and changed my settings to 12cm instead of the 10cm I was prescribed. I'm feeling much better. But I do BEST with straight cpap and cflex, rather than auto with aflex.

Cheers,
B.

Thanks for the good description DSM. I want to get an A-Flex but I am going through quite some gyrations negotiating with my DME and insurance company. I still have a hope to get it 100% paid by my insurance company. Now it is becoming a game with me as much as the money.
