opposite sex and cpap
My wife was the one who hounded me to get a sleep study so she's got no problem with the mask. As others have noted, it benefits her as she gets to sleep now rather then toss and turn to my snoring.
I can see it being a concern if you're single. I would be embarrassed about it too - stupid I know, but I understand about not wanting to admit to any kind of disability - but when it comes to that, if they can't accept you for what you are, are they worth sleeping with?

Here's a question... You knew eventually I'd have to come right out and ask it...
Anyone had sex with their mask on?
I don't know that I'd PLAN to do that, but maybe if I was approached the right way in the middle of the night or early in the morning, I might just leave it on... I dunno. Hasn't happened yet.
Does seem to me it would be a PLUS to increase the airflow. The experts tell you not to hold your breath and to keep breathing to increase... uh... pleasure.
Do you think panting would burn out your Xpap?
LOL,
B.

I do believe its the next big thing in the porn industry as it hasnt been "done " before. Could you picture it mass orgy? problem is all the actors are single and really insecure about coming out with their machines especially in front of the camers.Anonymous wrote:Anyone had sex with their mask on?

I think that might easily mess with the algorithms... your stats for the night would be really bizarre.
On the other paw, increased air flow is A Good Thing......
Getting old doesn't make you 'forgetful'. Having too damn many things to remember makes you 'forgetful'.

I can honestly say my husband (29) and I (30) at this point don't plan on growing up... We still passionately play with toys together... they may be very expensive plastic figures, cards, model rockets, and models then toss in late night D&D... even if we occasionally fall asleep when it isn't our turn during combat... Plus we've become permanent fixtures to our Alma mater's Marching Band... Can we say Stuck in Time? And with me loosing weight our "Naps" can only get better from here...Anonymous wrote:
I think my major bit of anger about "growing old" is the lack of passion in relationships. Not JUST sex, but throughout the whole interaction. After 30, we're expected to grow up and "get real" - it's all sweat pants, pizza, and Must See TV. I can do that alone, thank you very much.
Cheers,

Oh my... is it wrong that this is actually what briefly passed through my mind when I first saw that "Resmed gone wild" thread?I do believe its the next big thing in the porn industry as it hasnt been "done " before. Could you picture it mass orgy?
SceneStealer, I totally know what you mean about this:
as well as that whole "finding a healthy mate" thing (I'm a biology geek).I don't spend nearly as much time around friends and at public functions as I did when I had more energy
The optimist in me would like to beleive that since we humans think we are so far "superior" ( ) to the other creatures on this planet, we should be able to use our higher brain functions to look past things (such as having to sleep with a CPAP machine) which might have been "undesireable" in our evolutionary past. My daytime sleepiness probably would've made me a crappy hunter/gatherer... but OSA is treatable now, so no problem, right?
As various posts in this thread have shown, that's not really the case, at least for many of us who are still single. (F- off machine man? Yikes....)
I'm glad that most of the people on this board who are married/committed seem to have supportive spouses/partners. My best friend's husband actually has OSA, and she's not bothered by the machine at all. She's just glad that he's not so tired all the time and seems healthier, because she wants to keep him around for as long as possible. That's the right kind of attitude, IMO.
But for me, the whole OSA thing is yet another reason why I'll probably stay single. It just seems like another thing for me to feel insecure about, or something someone could use to be rude (F- off machine girl, maybe?).
It's already hard enough to meet people when you're tired all the time and feel like crap. The last thing I want to do after dragging myself through a work day/week is go out and try to socialize. It all seems pretty pointless anyway, because I never really meet anyone that interesting
*And let me just clarify that I'm only talking about my experiences with the guys who live in my little corner of the world, this is NOT a generalization of all men...
The guys I meet (when I actually meet anyone, that is) all seem pretty nice, but they basically act like a bunch of overgrown teenagers. For the most part, these are people who are in their 20's & 30's, who've had some kind of education, and have a career, but still live like they're 18 and in the college dorm/frathouse.
I've met lawyers, accountants, teachers, etc, who probably earn decent salaries, but still live with 7 roommates packed into some tiny house, and spend all their free time playing Xbox. Despite being educated, they don't seem to have any real interests/hobbies, or their own opinions about anything. One guy I went out with actually considered it a "date" when I came over and we ate fast food while he played Xbox...
But other women in my age group around here don't seem to be bothered by this fact, because all that seems to matter to them is whether or not they have a boyfriend/husband. So they'll put up with all kinds of BS just so they don't have to be single (heaven forbid).
So basically, I'm surrounded by boring, immature guys; and women who will settle for whatever they can get, just so they don't have to be alone. And since I have a low tolerance for being treated like crap, I'm probably out of luck. I'm also really independent and opinionated, which usually doesn't seem to go over well. Also, no matter what age the guys I meet are, they all seem to prefer the 21-year old Barbie doll types, which I am not. The fact that I'll be 27 on Friday probably puts me past my expiration date, at least around here.
Finally, on top of these (and many other) issues, there's the CPAP machine. At this point, I'm thinking, why even bother with the dating scene? It's not worth my time and energy anyway.
Yuck. Sorry for the long rant.
Perplexity is the beginning of knowledge.

You may feel like it, but you're not past your expiration date. There is a man out there that will accept you for who you are, challenge you to be your best, and continue to love you even when you fall short (and even when a hose is strapped to your face). Xbox fantasies only last so long, and the little boys have to grow up, or they'll find themselves sadly alone--even if their woman sticks it out with them. A cold house to come home to, with a spouse who has lost their love, may be worse than the hottest day in hell.
My wife is opinionated, brash, kind, and sexy, and this summer we just celebrated 23 years together. I admit that we've grown up together, we were married when she was 19 and I was 22, but we also chose to accept each other as we are, and challenge each other to become what we were meant to be . . .
My life wouldn't be the same without her, and if she were to leave this earth before me, I don't think that I'd ever be able to fall in love with, or marry, another woman.
I'm not sure if I always believe that there is that "one" special person just for you, but I'm sure that there are enough mature, decent guys out there, willing to share their life with you, who will become that person with you and for you.
Sometimes it happens early, like it did with me, sometimes it happens later, sometimes it takes a couple of tries. So in the meantime, just enjoy yourself, live your life, get healthier, and when you least expect it . . .
I truly believe that the right person will come along, sweep you off your feet, and share their life with you . . .
. . . Just like it happened to me.

If pretty, young gal hose-heads are having it tough finding a good mate, then I think old-fart, male hose-heads are probably SOL. Well, the odds aren't looking favorable. Oh well... I'm tough, and I can handle it.
There's gotta be an old "tart" for an old "fart."

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.

I like that line... Can I be an Old Tart instead of an Old Broad?
Amanda, I totally commiserate. Can you imagine a guy 45 and still living in a garage apartment and spending all his free time gaming? I can introduce you to him, if your interested. I KNOW he's still single...
That said, I don't HATE all gamers. I know several very interesting, passionate, fun members of this board who game. But I also know plenty of the geeks Amanda's described.
There are days I think the Amish have it right - anything that takes you out of community with those around you is evil. Whether it's unrealistic internet relationships (for example my 400 lb, 60-something year old stepmother just left my father for some bozo she met on the internet), endless gaming, or 24/7 sports center - it's escapism. You gotta wonder why the here and now is so unsatisfying that you gotta escape that much.
It's legal addiction. It's just as boring and deadly to the imagination as illegal drugs. I'm not against a little socializing on the net. I'm here, right? But I need some warm breathing flawed real humans, too. Cyber hugs just aren't the same.
Cheers,
B.
