Got my Pur-Sleep Today
Received my Pur-Sleep system on Wednesday.
1st impressions - excellent.
My package came with every item perfectly intact. The instructions are well written and clear. The 3 bottles were neatly packed together and none leaked at all.
I tried the clear (2 drops) and really like the minty smell. I always have nasal congestion and my sinuses feel open - and it's 7:30 p.m. on Thursday! This is a 1st!
My husband (I hear another forum member say this too) hates "smells". He said that he smelled it until I put on my mask and then he did not notice it at all (tee hee - he fell asleep much faster than normal so I'm wondering if it helped him as well!)
I thinking of trying 1 drop of peace and 1 drop of clear tonight - should I wash out the diffuser pad 1st? I agree - 1 diffuser pad should come with each bottle.
Quote from instructions: "They are made from durable fabrics and may be reused freely with the same oils." So if I mix two - I'm assuming I should wash the pad out unless I plan on using the same "mix" again?
I am a "struggler" when it comes to sleeping - some nights I fall fast asleep, and other nights, it takes up to 2 hours to fall asleep. I wake up between 4 & 5 and have a hard time going back to sleep - especially on work days knowing that the alarm is going to ring at 6.
Last night was my first night with the clear and I really liked the comforting aroma it put out. However, my hubby had jury duty today, and my mind just started racing out of control with things I had planned for today. Even though it was a night that I did not fall right asleep, the aroma kept me relaxed.
I am going to use the same pad and put one drop of clear and one of peace and report back tomorrow.
Right now I'm going to use it for a few more nights - and I will most likely order a couple of more scents and a couple more diffuser pads.
Excellent product Sleep Guy - thanks for the trial!

I was so tired last night that I had to literally drag myself to bed. I didnt even wash my face or put on pajamas. I just pulled off my pants and layed down to go to sleep. I put on my mask and waited for sleep to come. 20 min later I was still laying there. So I got back up and got my pur sleep with some peace. I was out before my 10 min ramp was done.
Thank you sleep guy. I hadnt even noticed how long it takes me to fall asleep sometimes. So it works for me. I got a few hours sleep (my bad for staying up wayyyyy to late) and didnt have to lay there for half an hour or more trying to get to sleep.

I wouldn't worry about that. If you're trying to switch between clear and spice, you'd want to wash it but it's best just to have a dedicated pad for each one and keep it stored in a zip lock bag (all the more reason to include 3 pads in the basic starter package).sleepyred wrote:Quote from instructions: "They are made from durable fabrics and may be reused freely with the same oils." The peppermint in Clear can be somewhat stimulating but it's also very pleasant and comfortable to many people. Adding a bit of Peace should help you sleep better with it.
Your detailed comments are very much appreciated!

Bret,
When are you coming out with the larger size bottles of EO's? You mentioned that to me some months back...is that still in the planning stage?

I got my pur-sleep today, forwarded by another member who decided not to use it. I was impressed with the packaging--very nice. No probs with the way the essential oils were packaged--no leaks or anything. The scents were very nice. I think I will prefer the peace to the others because I am crazy about lavender. I put a few drops on the pad in the middle of the day and that whole half of the house was ever so delicately scented with soothing lavender for the rest of the day. I noticed both cats congregated to our bed all afternoon--unusual, usually they don't like to spend time together! The peace must be working its magic.
I'm excited to try it tonight.
I was very impressed with the ceramic diffuser pad holder--very cool!
Thank you!

I have only had one small problem, and a worry. My machine has the intake right over where teh plug goes in. It is hard to fit the system under the plug....but I can if I try. Should I be worried about the EO damaging the rubber or anything on the plug? It does touch. Or I just move it to the side but have to use a bit more oil.
I got mine a week ago tomorrow.
I put the package on a shelf and low and behold placed something in front of it and forgot it was there.
Anyway to make a long story short I will let you know what I think about it in a day or so. I opened a bottle of it and it smells good so I will try it out tonight for sure.

Do you need to put fresh oil on every night? I made my own home version a couple of nights ago with a cotton ball and a tealight holder, and found I didn't need to add more oil the second night.
Of course, I did put a few drops on. The lavender oil doesn't have a dropper tip, so it was difficult to restrain it...
BTW, I still bought the system, after figuring out the home version. I really want Sleep Guys special oil blends I keep reading about!!!
LOL,

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.

I have done 3 nights with the system now, and wanted to post up my review. Even though most of this info has posted, I feel like I wouldn't be justiifying SleepGuy's cost of sending them out free if I didnt post a full review format (so excuse it if you have read some of the info already or someone else posted it).
Packaging
The package contained my 3 oil bottles, the ceramic holder, and 2 diffuser pads. They were nicely packaged, and no leakage or breakage had happened.
The Essential Oils
The 3 oils that come with the starter pack are Clear, Spice and Peace. My favorite upon the initial smelling was the Peace. Clear comes in second, and Spice was my least favorite of the 3. Peace has a smooth feeling smell to it, very relaxing. Clear has got a little bit of that peppermint bite to it, and a little goes a long way with the Clear. I have only smelled spice in the bottle, and not used it to sleep with yet.
The bottles are very nice and I think they look very professional. There was no leakage. The dropper tops on the bottles take some finesse, but once you get the hang of them, they work just fine.
The bottles contain enough oil that it seems like they will last forever.
The Diffuser/Holder
I was expecting the diffuser pad to just be a custom cut cotton pad, but it is much more than that. It is actually a custom sewn "mini-pillow".
The system also comes with a ceramic holder for the pad that is designed to sit in front of your machine's air intake. The ceramic holder is custom designed for the system, and even has the Pur Sleep logo molded into it.
My only complaint about the holder is that the unfinished ceramic on the bottom of the holder is rough, and it gave me a sense of rubbing sandpaper on my nice wooden nightstand. I took some fine grit sand paper and then some sanding polish and sanded the unfinished bottom part smooth. I dont feel like it will scratch up my nightstand if i move it around now.
System Usage
I have used the system for 3 nights. The first night I just used 2 drops of peace, the second night i used two drops of clear and one drop of peace, and the 3rd night i used two drops of clear and two drops of peace. The instructions say that most people use 2-5 drops, and I find that to be pretty accurate regarding the range of how strong you would want the smell to be. When I used 4 drops on the 3rd night, the smell was pretty strong (not too strong to sleep, but strong enough to be very noticeable). I think the right mix for me is 1 drop of clear and 2 drops of peace.
I find the smell coming into my mask to be extremely pleasant, much more so than I thought I would. I dont know if the system made me sleep any better once I had gone to sleep, but I do know that being awake with my mask on was much less of a chore now that it has a nice smell to it instead of the medical plastic smell. This definitely made the process of falling asleep easier and faster.
Conclusion
I think the Pur-Sleep system is one of the best weapons you can have in your sleep arsenal. I enjoyed the smell in my mask, and I feel like it made it more tolerable to be awake with my mask on before I fell asleep.
After seeing how much oil you get, and estimating how long a single bottle will last, I also think the Pur-Sleep system is an EXCELLENT value. My wife even commented on how long the oil would last, and what a great deal it was.
I think this is a great system and recommend it to anyone using CPAP.

I have and use the old style pur-sleep. I only add oil to the pad 2x per week. If I mask up and smell the oils fine, if not I add to it. I use 2 drops of clear and 2 of peace.

Ahhhhhhh yes! Adding the peace to the clear worked wonders for me! Even though my mind was racing, I felt a sense of calm as I put on my mask on. Fell asleep much faster last night. Woke up at 3 and thought "here I go again - won't be able to fall asleep" Next time I noticed, my husband was getting ready for work - did not even hear his alarm!
I would high recommend this to cpap users. In fact I'm ordering more oils today! I am going out of town to the beach and last time (we went with my sister's family) we were in an yucky smelling basement room - now I won't have to worry about musty odors when I travel!
Thanks about the tip with the diffuser pads!
Thanks again Sleep Guy!
P.S. - on another note - my husband literally hates going into stores with scented odors and he loves the pur-sleep system! When I said I was going to participate in this trial - he rolled his eyes. Now he's wondering what I'm mixing next.....He said to give his thumbs up as well! He is wondering if you might try to develop something with a cinnamon smell.

I used peace for the first time last night and really enjoyed the experience. I love the scent of lavender, so I may have overdone it with too many drops at first and had to move the diffuser away from the air intake after a few minutes because it seemed too strong and my throat seemed to get a little sore and I even coughed a little bit, but once I moved it back I fell asleep almost instantly. The fragrence of peace is the herbal lavender scent that makes me think of being out in my garden on a warm summer morning. Lovely. I would like to try cream mixed with it, I believe it has hints of vanilla? I think the two together would be really lovely.
I think the clear will be perfect for when I have a cold or not feeling well and I'm not sure about the spice. It just isn't "me." Those are flavors I like to smell when baking, but I find them energizing, not relaxing, so I don't think I'll use that scent. But who knows, with time I might chang my mind!

Maybe an innovation for the manufacturer of the diffuser might be the addition of a felt pad on the bottom of the diffuser?
You can buy stick on felt pads at the hardware store for chairs and lamps. A couple of small disks would work well.
Of course, it would make it harder to wash for the consumer. Maybe a loose felt pad could be included?
Just thinking out loud. Can't wait to get mine!!!!
Hey Jen, if I love the spice, we might do a deal... I'm slathered in patchouli right now...
LOL,
B.

Until then, if you want to buy at least 3 of the same 5ml oil, there will be discount pricing but you'll have to set that up through email.
