Got my Pur-Sleep Today
Got my Pur-Sleep Today
Sleep Guy,
Just a note to let you know that we received the Pur Kit on Saturday. We have company now so will have to wait a few days to try it out.
Since folks with reflux have to avoid food with peppermint or citrus, do you know if this would also apply to scents?
Thanks,
Nina

First Night
Slept all night last night with Clear. I went to bed with a slight headache so I was a little concerned the scent might exaggerate the headache but woke up with NO headache. The scent was nice to focus on and helped me get to sleep pretty quick. Nice since I had to get up at 3:30! I do like the idea of the bottles having some type of an eye dropper as the current ones do come out a little fast. Thanks again for the trial SleepGuy, I am really liking the Pur Sleep System and am looking forward to trying another scent tonight. I will have to order the Rose scent, I love roses!

Slept with Pur-Sleep last night. It was very nice. The oils are quite strong smelling (typical of essential oils), and I tend to be somewhat sensitive to strong smells, but one drop of Peace was perfect. Just enough to be relaxing without being overpowering. I feel asleep very quickly. My husband, who also doesn't like strong smells, kind of grimaced when he saw that I was going to use this product, but once I put it in place, he said it was nice, too. Most of the smell goes into the CPAP, not the room, so it didn't bother him at all.
I also went to the web site to check out the price of the product. Given what I know about the typical price of essential oils, I think $29.95 for this kit is more than fair. I've seen the oils alone sell for anywhere from $7 to $10, so this is definitely a good deal. And with me using only one drop a night, this is going to last forever! My only suggestion in this regard would be to possibly allow the purchaser to select which oils he/she wants in the three-oil kit. I probably would have selected Peace, one of the flowery ones, and one of the fruity ones.
I gave some more thought to my "leaking" comment earlier. I think leaking may have been too strong of a description. The outside of the bottle was vaguely slick, and the package smelled, but it's not like there was oil all over the place, nor did it seem that the seals on the bottles were compromised in any way. I think Jenn might be right, that it's an expected by-product of shipping.
Thanks, Sleepguy, for a great product!

Morning, ya'll. Last night was my third night on Pur-Sleep. Again, I'm not saying Pur-Sleep is the cause, but I slept pretty good, got up at 7:30 AM on a Saturday morning and the yard was mowed by 9 AM!! WOOHOO!
I didn't sleep as good last night as 2 nights ago, kept waking up about every 3 hours or so. I think I just had too much on my mind. I tried the "Peace" last night. I used 4 drops and the odor lasted until almost 4 AM! WOWZERS!
So far, my favorite is still the Spice. And no, it didn't seem to make my GERD worse (see my other post. Seems like my GERD is almost GONE! LOL)
Have a great weekend and thanks TONS, Sleepguy!

Re: Got my Pur-Sleep Today
Nina, I don't know a lot about reflux but I do know that peppermint is a longstanding natural remedy for digestive tract problems dating back to ancient times. Peppermint tea does an excellent job calming down my stomach. So the caution on peppermint seems backwards to me.Yoga wrote:Since folks with reflux have to avoid food with peppermint or citrus, do you know if this would also apply to scents?
Thanks,

I presume that the caution against citrus has to do with the acid content, which would not apply to citrus aromatics.
Try the Scented CPAP Mask with Pur-Sleep's CPAP Aromatherapy--CPAP Diffuser and Essential Oils.

Tried the peace last night. It was great. The oil did come out a bit fast, and I ended up with like 5 drops on the pad. BUT.....all I did was move it 2 inches away instead of one...and it was good. It was nice, and did seem to relax me a bit.
I agree with the other poster on picking the 3 you want. But I know that with a small business trying to make money it can be hard to do special order type things. Especially if you get a good deal on packaging and such. I too will have to order the rose when I get a chance. I doubt I will be able to make myself try the spice, it is just really unpleasant to me. But I am glad others are having great success with it.
I buy EO for my OCM face mix. And all of them come with that same dropping lid. Havent found any yet with an eye dropper type. Maybe that is just the best way to package EO. Not sure.

Last night went good
Well I slept pretty well last night. I finally went with the peace scent and it lasted for a good long time. The oil did come out pretty fast and I ended up
with about 5 drops last night. It was ok though. I also just moved it a little further away and it was alright.
Tonight I am going to try the spice.
So far all and all it is a great product and I belive it helps a lot.
More tomorrow after the 2end night.

A sense of humor can help you overlook the unattractive, tolerate the unpleasant, cope with the unexpected, and smile through the unbearable
The dropper cap bottle is industry standard for essential oils. You can try a traditional eyedropper bottle. However, some oils will act as a solvent if in direct contact with the rubber bulb. The dropper cap is as good as it gets. Just go slow and you'll get the hang of it alright.jennmary wrote:I buy EO for my OCM face mix. And all of them come with that same dropping lid. Thats what I figured sleep guy. I assumed that if other companies are all using the same type of bottle top there had to be a good reason for it.
I will say that today has been a much better day than usual. It is almost midnight on a saturday (no work) and I didnt take a nap today. I was awake and even went to a birthday party with kids running around (havent done that in years).
Maybe the pursleep helped me relax more, and get better sleep. I will let you know tommorow how I feel.

Pur-Sleep Trial, Night 2.
This time I tried Clear, since I was having a little congestion last night. I was a little hesitant to try this one, since I usually don't like minty scents (tend more toward lavender and flowers). It was great. Fell asleep within 10 minutes (typical for me pre-CPAP, but since CPAP it's been taking me 15-20 min to fall asleep), which was really nice, and didn't wake up at all, not once, until my husband woke me 8 hrs later.
Someone had asked earlier about the effect of these scents on reflux/GERD. I'm not a medical professional, but I think that the reason we are told to avoid those foods is that their ingestion impacts stomach acid production. Since we are smelling these oils and not ingesting them, I wouldn't expect them to impact reflux/GERD. It's also a very individual thing as to what foods need to be avoided. Citrus never bothers my GERD, but I know it bothers a lot of people.
Once again, I highly recommend this product.

I got mine Friday and I used it Friday night and Saturday night. I used the recommended two drops (I chose Clear for both nights) and it was the perfect amount. I tried to do something similar myself using lavender oil before I heard of Pur-Sleep, but I could never get the amount right - too much and I was getting a splitting headache, too little and I was thinking, what's the point? But the clear was wonderful, not too much, not too little.
My bottles didn't leak, but the cellophane bag was ripped open.
Someone asked if people washed their pads out every day - I am not sure what I will do in the future but I liked having mine out on the table all day... it was not unattractive and kept a hint of peppermint every time I walked into the room.
My recommendation, the three pads , something to store the stuff in, and maybe some recipes for those mixes you suggest. Kind of like Jelly Bellies!
I think I will move to Spice tonight and see how that one works.
Thanks again for letting me test them! They are wonderful and I would recommend them to anyone with xPAP. A nice change and definitely something relaxing, in a process that can be uncomfortable and stressful.

Peace was great. Love it. I slept really well last night. Didnt wake up once. Could it be the pur-sleep? Maybe. I will keep you posted.
On the website sleepguy......someone in that couple on the front page is not very compliant. lol I went there and realized that they were both sleeping without CPAP. lol Sorry, I notice the strangest things sometimes.
I have a horrible headache tonight. So we will see how that works with the product. Best case....it makes it better, worst....it makes it worse. Either way I will pop a few advil before bed.
I hope you all sleep well.
