Hi all,

I needed a chinstrap. I got on from the DME but only used it a couple of days. I then made my own by cutting up the bottom section of an old headgear and looping it around the straps of my current headgear on both sides of my face. I adjusted it so the pressure is comfortable under my chin. It works fine and keeps my mouth closed during the night. This solution might work for you as well. It's simple, easy and works.

You can also use an Ace bandage to mummy wrap your head
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

i'm with DreamStalker on this one.
If your pressure is only 10, try keeping your mouth closed with a little tape first.

If your much, much more comfortable mouth breathing whenever you want, then by all means, get a hybrid. I would say the hybrid is a better mask for high pressures because it seems much easier to breathe in that mask against high pressures. I'm sure it does the same for low pressures, but breathing isn't so intolarable on a low pressure as it is for, say, a 13, 14cm or higher.

I sleep exclusively on my sides and don't have any problems with my mask.

I use UMFF and also sleep on my side, no problems. I adjust it once I am on my side. It seems to work just fine.

I use a variety of FF masks, sleep on both sides and my back, and have no problems associated with any of those positions. The only mask I've ever tried that dictated sleeping position was the Breeze, and it seemed to me to preclude sleeping on my back, due to the metal thing at the top/back of your head.

It amazes me that FF masks constitute only 12% of mask sales at cpap.com. To me, they are much easier than taping, Polident, all that. I only mouth breathe a small fraction of the time, but that fraction would result in near complete treatment loss, IMHO.

Honest to God, I thought the reason that full face masks were not as popular was that they were hard to seal. (And claustrophobia, but I don't think that's anywwhere near 88% of us). Am I misled? Are they easy to seal? I'm trying to learn all I can.
Thanks,
Cathy

See, I was thinking the same thing. I thought it wouldn't seal well, and I have claustrophobia. This is based on my one night use of a... whatchacallit regular triangular over the nose mask (kept unsealing) at the sleep lab, and general feelings of claustrophobia looking at the FF masks.

I'm trying to be more open minded. I'm gonna try some FF masks, I've got a Hybrid on it's way. Maybe we should just all stand in line and pass masks to each other. Oh wait, that's what we're doing in Mask Roulette.

Hey little boy, can I try your mask on my face? Wheeze, giggle, wheeze....

LOL,
B.

Cathy,

It all boils down to "what works best for YOU is the best mask".

As far as sealing, it depends on the mask and the particular face. The UMFF works for me, but the Comfortfull 2 didn't......the seals were too hard and it wouldn't let me get a comfortable night's sleep. My AHI "numbers" were excellent, but my chin/lower lip area felt like someone had been stepping on it all night. In that case, comfort took precedence.

Mine seems to seal pretty good. There's still some nights with higher leak numbers and then some nights with surprisingly LOW leak numbers (like last night).

Actually, I've had more trouble getting nasal pillows and cushions to seal.

The Comfortcurve never even began to seal for me. The ComfortLite sort of did seal okay, with the pillows, after much fiddling, but never with the cushions. The Breeze worked okay, but I just don't seem to like things stuck in my nose.

But this mask thing is very idiosyncratic: what works for one does not work for another.

I think all of you remember me and what I have to say about the Hans Rudolph V7600 full face mask. I love it.

I sleep on my side all the time and no leaks.

My husband finally got his ResMed UMFF to to work with out any leakage.
He became a mouth breather when his sinuses decided to clog up.

Tom sleeps on his back. He use to have a beard with his full face mask and never had one problem.

I have a saying in my signature.

All of you have a good point...
My problems might be I have a warped face or just look bad?
BUT to old to change that so I'll play mask roulette till I get the "PERFECT MASK " "Is one out there for everybody?"
