Are you itchy during the night, or during the day?

Some have said that they rub their faces really well to get rid of the itches before putting on the mask and that seems to help.
Getting the Twilight NP, Aura/Headrest Nasal Pillows helped me--my face is almost fully exposed so I can scratch wherever it itches.

Hope it helps. Itching under the mask can drive you crazy. Certainly doesn't help in getting a good nights sleep.

I had that problem also and drove me nuts! I read the rub your face vigoursly before you put on the mask and it does work for me. I was amazed. Only an occasional itch now. And if I forget the itchies remind me as soon as I try to go to sleep. Hope you try it

How often do you clean the part of the mask that touches your face? I found that if I did not clean it everyday (as well as shave right before bed) my mask itched. Have not tried the rubbing face method before putting on the mask before, but I will.

I occasionally run into this issue when I am having rain out problems. The condensation makes my whole nose itchy as well as my upper lip where the water tends to collect. I blame the New England weather, it changes around so much my settings that eliminate rainout don't always stay valid long.

I notice it more with certain masks then others, based on how the airflow is directed across the nose. I remember some masks I tried early on didn't do much to deflect airflow and those were the worst for causing itchy noses.

Itchy nose with comfort gel

Post by houltkin » Wed May 21, 2008 7:04 am

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I have been using the comfort gel mask for 5 days and the itching is a real bother, but I itch during the day as well. Alway have.

I do follow the cleaning directions for the mask and my face. I will try rubbing my face before bed. Thanks so much!

I have had the same problem with my comfort-get and for awhile I used cortisone cream on my nose. Now, I just switch out mask's for a few nights and it goes away, but last time I did use the comfort-gel, I got that itch again. Wonder what is different about this mask, I don't know.

nose itch

Post by houltkin » Tue May 27, 2008 7:32 pm

I have used Sarna itch relief lotion (available behind the pharmacy counter) and gold bond which is supposed to be stronger than cortisone cream. They both work pretty well, at least until I get to sleep. I still wake up in the middle of the night and just reach up under the mask to scratch (or rub gently as I am getting a pretty sore upper lip).

It may be the little latex membrane on the surface of the nose cup. It's flimsy enough that it could be causing turbulence in the airflow.

I have asked my supplier to get me an Omega 360. I can't stand this anymore.

Oops, I meant Opus 360, not omega.
