I think that Snoredog may be onto something with that big gizmo in his garage. Add the MAF device he has shown and surely with some minor extra wizardry we can have a multi-patient Timed Bilevel with synchronized breathing (join in or get off ). Set it for an optimim 12 BPM.

Each patient has their own hose line & it is fitted with an auto shut-off valve when they disconnect.

My guess is we could treat 20 people at a time (for starters).

Hmmmm, what was the airflow capacity of that gadget ? - divide it by a peak 20
lpm & that gives us some ideas.

As a respecter of a good workshops let me say "I am impressed"

You are clearly into woodwork & understand the challenge of wood dust at the right air dust mix

I am sure many a woodworking workshop has dissapeared through not being so careful.

My dream is to take over this guys workshop - he is simply amazing. Started out as a troubled teenager in Mexico, met someone who put him on the right track, has become a world expert in the use and development of Hydrogen Peroxide technology (right down to selling stills that produce some of the purest concentrations available).

http://www.tecaeromex.com/ingles/indexi.html

He has the most amazing workshop & top it all off by having his wife learn welding & she is an expert in her own right. Then he had is lovely daughter become the 1st woman to fly a Hydrogen Peroxide powered rocket belt.
When I 1st knew him she was still a teen (see the link Isabel Lozano).

Excuse me if I appear to be dripping with envy but I am

Our common love is for rotary winged craft - see Juan's link here ...
http://www.tecaeromex.com/ingles/RH-i.htm

He may achive what my friends are still dreaming of. My pet being this
http://www.cartercopters.com in which I have some very modest interest.

I did some publicity for Juan re this ...
http://www.tecaeromex.com/ingles/cata-i.htm
which was world beating stuff when he developed it (probably still is).

My own home workshop is very simple (our laundry). My wife has learned to weld (jewellery) but does & can use my oxy-acetylene kit

Juan's wife can do aluminium welding & that is talent (hard!).

Cheers

Some further summing up.

The link SWS provided certainly identifies the Honeywell MAF detection chips (Mass Air Flow).

The grill Snores pointed out (there is also a similar grill in the fan of my PB330 - see pic 13 & esp pic 20) http://www.internetage.com/cpapinfo/pb3 ... index.html
based on the observations of SWS & Snores, it appears to be to smooth out air vorticies from the fan blades because the air soon has to pass by the air sampler (eg the plastic thing shown in my hand in the Remstar) that taps off two air points & feeds the air from these two points to the MAF chip pressure sensors pair.

As seen in the Resmed S7, there is one chipset of MAF sensors used for flow sensing & one of the pair on the 2nd chipset (the right hand one) is used individually as a straight pressure sensor. So restated, when used as a pair they are used as flow detectors to detect the volume of air passing through the air tube where the air samples were tapped from. When used individually, they act as pressure sensors & snore vibration detectors (or for that one role of snore detection, as mics )
