What's going on at cpap.com?

Post by ILoveFlowers » Sun Jan 25, 2026 5:38 pm

Everything looks different and my order history of several years is gone. Have they changed hands? Does anyone know?

Yep. They sold out. Carolyn is no longer there and I don't know about Johnny but I get the feeling that he is gone too.
Customer service sucks and I won't be ordering from them anymore. I accidentally ordered 2 separate orders of the same mask and don't need 2 of them. I realized the error within 5 minutes and called them to cancel one of the orders...they said it couldn't be done. It was on a Sunday and sure as hell hadn't shipped yet because they don't ship on Sunday.

Not to mention that the person I spoke to had such a heavy accent he was difficult to understand so looks like they are farming out customer service calls either out of the USA or somewhere that people don't speak good English. Big pet peeve of mine not understanding them.

So if anyone wants to order from them....make sure you don't screw up because Carolyn isn't there to correct the problem whether the problem is something they did or you did. I got the feeling the new people don't give a shit.

Ohh, thanks, Pugsy. This is super disappointing. I will be shopping elsewhere, too. Seems like every time I turn around, another trusted resource or supplier has disappeared lately. :(

Also, I just looked at my account because there used to be a way to turn off the spam emails and I couldn't find it now.
Annoying as hell to get all those emails when is what I would prefer.....now they will automatically just go to my spam folder and then I can easily and quickly delete them....and rest assured that is what I will do.

I have seen that setting in the past but it's not available now or at least I couldn't find it.

well, this sucks. I don't need anything currently, but I always tried to steer people that way.

bet the new folk give even less of a shit when cpaptalk.com has software problems.

I don’t know what’s going on but I think it’s always best to order from your local provider or doctor that prescribes your device.

That's wonderful for some people but my local (if you can call the closest provider at 25 miles to me local) provider refuses to order what I want.
Told me some bald faced lie about insurance not paying for it....and my doctor doesn't supply equipment at all.

I've also steered a number of people to cpap.com over the years. Sad to hear that they've gone downhill. Shopping for another provider that has a 30-day money back guarantee if a new mask doesn't work out, I see that there are several on the internet. Having that guarantee made me a bit braver when it came to trying new masks...I knew that I wouldn't be stuck with the ones that didn't work for me.

There is a store in Vegas I found a couple of years ago when visiting my daughter and needed an emergency hose. They were super easy to work with.

Looked at their policies and I can't say that purchasing "mask assurance" for a 30-day return meets my needs. The mask that I looked at was the Dreamwear Nasal mask, about $110, and the "mask assurance" guarantee cost $30.

But that's just me, there are probably people happy to pay about 30% of the cost of a mask to get the privilege of returning it if it doesn't work for them.

Hey there! This is Joe Megibow, the CEO at cpap.com and sleeping.com. There are some unhappy comments in this thread, which is not how we want any of our customers to feel, so I wanted to share a little bit. First off, our business is alive and well, and we are making significant investments in improving every aspect to better service our customers. I personally believe in building a healthy long-term business and our whole team is aligned with that.

As to Carolyn and Johnny, they did not "sell out". They are very much still owners and still have a lot of desire to see the business do well. What they did do is bring in new majority investors to help grow the business for the long term. With the new investors, Johnny brought me in to lead the business, for which I am grateful. I have a ton of passion for sleep health, and have already run two large innovative sleep related companies. Johnny and Carolyn remain part owners, board members, and advisors to me. They have been terrific to work with. We also still have a lot of dedicated employees that go back many, many years with this company.

I have spent my entire career building businesses that win by getting it right for our customers. You all "vote with your wallets," when deciding where to shop, and we need to earn that "vote" every transaction, every time. I know that. You know that. My whole team knows that. And we would love the privilege of servicing you.

Yes, we have been making a lot of changes, with the intent to improve. For example we have significantly improved most of our customer policies, with better return policies, better warranty support, lower free-shipping thresholds among other things. And we continue to work to provide the best prices out there, as an actual, licensed authorized seller (there are a lot of gray-market sellers out there).

All that said, we are growing quite a bit now, and clearly we've had some growing pains. To those that it has impacted negatively, I'm sorry. We are training our staff as fast as we can and holding them to a high bar. When we don't get it right, we want to hear about it. You are welcome to send us feedback, and you are welcome to send me feedback as well. We (and I) read it all and we work to improve from that feedback.

And yes, we have also made a lot of changes to the site. It was a very old architecture and increasingly difficult to maintain. It is now much more flexible and our overall customer base has been much happier with the changes. Note that we have not deleted any order history, though it is not all migrated over to the new site. We are happy to pull anything for any of you if you want to look up anything.

We also launched a whole new site at sleeping.com. There are a lot more people suffering from OSA that have not been diagnosed and we are trying to help close that gap. Sleeping.com is a big part of that effort. We know that diagnosis starts with easy testing, but that's where a lot of the undiagnosed get held up. So we've been working to create the most simple, consumer friendly testing process out there. We are off to a great start.

We are also investing in a big project to modernize cpaptalk. This site is on a nearly 20-year-old platform, from the days before mobile and iPhones. We can do better and we are doing it. More to come on that. We would love to see this community live on.

In summary... I'll respond directly to a sentiment in this thread: we do give a sh*t. Talk to us. Talk to me. We are here for you. We are investing in doing better every day.

Yeah that's great except that's not what the problem is.

Thanks, Nocibur. I wasn't intending to suggest that the only problem is technical. My comment was that we are now investing in this site after many years of minimal support. Can you share what problems we should be solving? Any feedback would be helpful.
