My CPAP machine wakes me up with pulsating air

That isn't Van Gogh's best... tho' the Rembrandt looks par for the course. I like Lazarus' avatar, so there.

You think I should go back to APAP? I was getting lots of CA's in that mode.lazarus wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2023 5:14 pmI added a guitar.
Sorry wheezyrider. We'll focus on you in this thread now.
I hope.
Since I'm not a talented chart reader, I see nothing exceptional in your images, myself.
Sometimes when I wake up, I feel the vibrations of the FOT, myself. Other times not.
Your running in APAP mode might allow the pressure to prevent events in REM toward the end of the night. Maybe. Just my opinion.
Preventing awakenings in the middle of the night can sometimes be about sleep hygiene principles, so here is a link on that:
https://www.sleepfoundation.org/sleep-hygiene
Maybe others have better suggestions for you.
I practice good sleep hygiene the best I can and fall asleep pretty well. Staying asleep, not so good, and why I'm just trying to see if anything stands out that might make sense to the pros.
And I am calling the authorities to report this thread hijacked. Nice guitar.

Hey, that's still better than being shot out of the sky!
You could always limit it to a small range. But hey, AHI ain't bad. If you tried it, I trust your judgment.wheezyrider wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2023 5:53 pmYou think I should go back to APAP? I was getting lots of CA's in that mode.
Are you able to fall back asleep fairly well? If so, no biggie. If not, I recommend no caffeine or alcohol at all for a few weeks, just as a trial. If it helps, start adding back little by little to find the happy place. Then see if adding more exercise in the middle of the day helps.
Just ideas. It may not be about the PAP.
It helped me stay asleep when I started taking my BP meds in the morning instead of at night.
Thanks for the kind word on the quitar. I'll change my avatar a few more times to irritate the board.

Not a bad thought, but so far Rizzo is the only one I've seen where the artifact is ~double his sleeping heart rate.

Re: My CPAP machine wakes me up with pulsating air
A salient point. Consequently, it's critical that we're talking about the same pulsations, and whether they occur at 1.2 Hz or 4 Hz (about once per second or 4 times per second).
Cause he do have a couple instances ~in the walking period where there's FOT:

(SleepHQ flow resolution is not as clear in SleepHQ as it is in Oscar, so it's easier to see FOT in Oscar.)
Anyway, if we're talking FOT you're gonna have to live with it or go to a machine that doesn't use pulse technology to identify central stuff.
If we're talking the previous image then you have to figure out if it's CBA, palatal interference, or machine doing something or other.
Or something we ain't thought of yet.

Re: My CPAP machine wakes me up with pulsating air
How much elasticity is in the system i.e. tube, mask etc? Could a resonance pulse be occurring?

Elasticity varies according to materials used, and mask fit,
so measurements/assumptions can be unreliable outside of a lab.
Or in the lab, for that matter.

I haven't had this machine long and its the first time I've never had flow data to look at. It looks like I have a similar pattern to OP and i too am bradycardic (mid 20s - 30s bpm while sleeping.) Perhaps Resmed doesnt filter that low?
I would link an image but imgur doesnt allow new logins from south africa for some reason!
