CPAP store that accepts insurance that actually has an AirSense 11 in stock?

Post by seattlepap » Thu Oct 20, 2022 1:48 am

Please don't answer this unless you know an answer to my actual question.

I'm looking to move to the AirSense 11. I have the order from my doctor and I have BCBS for insurance. Nowhere that I can find has an AirSense 11 in stock. Does anyone know of a store that will ship that is in network with big insurance companies that would have an AirSense 11 in stock. I'm NOT interested in places where I can buy the thing outright and then have to submit insurance paperwork.

While cpap.com does have the AirSense 11 in stock they don't work with any insurance companies at all. Meaning they won't file insurance for you. Now would someone's insurance go ahead and consider cpap.com as out of network and reimburse????? That's between the person and their insurance company.

First thing to do if wanting to file insurance is get a list of in network online providers and then start calling each one to see if they have any AirSense 11 models in stock.

It doesn't fulfill the accepts insurance part as they don't accept insurance.

1: Call your insurance.
2: Ask for a list of in network cpap providers--hard copy.
3: Call them, and ask when they can get you an Airsense 11 Autoset.

BCBS is not what is typically known as a "big insurance company". It's a federation of 35 separate companies. Policies vary among the companies. Check with your insurance company about coverage. It has been reported that some health insurance companies have temporarily been covering non-network CPAP suppliers as in-network due to their recognition of the market shortage.

"BCBS" is only a NAME, for sale to the highest bidder.
Used to be a good company; but those days are long gone.
Just another big business, or rather, a whole bunch of them.

I have only a limited opinion/experience with BCBS, that the benefits one gets are only as good as who foots the majority portion of the bill and specifies what benefits will be offered. My wife and I have BCBS of Massachusetts as a Medicare supplement plan paid for in large part by the company I retired from. Under the plan my company defined/specified there isn't much I would have to pay for out of pocket. No copays or deductibles, no 'network', no referrals and never have had a service or DME payment questioned or refused. The company also has an Aetna Advantage plan that is equally as good with copays for services and the extra perks that usually go with an advantage plan. I know there are different levels of coverage/different costs for individual plans...you get what you pay for. I have no complaints about the BCBS coverage my wife and I have. Perhaps gone are the days of when companies pay for good coverage for their employees/retirees.

Gramps and I have BCBS Advantage Plans. Our premiums are zero. Our local gym is free membership through Silver & Fit. The plan also includes a moderate benefit for dental hygiene and dental work. Our annual out-of-pocket maximum is $3950 each, which we could easily pay if worse came to worse. Most medical practices around here accept BCBS. The copays are small. We have had good experiences with the BCBS administration. Very happy. Some people in this forum are cynical about much of life. Maybe it goes with sleep apnea?

Granny, you are lucky that you live where a decent plan is available.
At present, there are no maximum out of pocket limits for part c plans in our area.

Is there a reason you MUST have an AirSense 11??? They are still selling the 10's and they are very good machines--much more widely available.

I know the trend is for everyone to have the "latest and greatest" but these are not smartphones or the usual tech. There's nothing really all that new or exciting in the latest model. If a PAP works for you, it keeps on working as long as it doesn't wear out, and if you buy a brand new Airsense 10 it's going to last just as long as a brand new 11--it doesn't depend on firmware or software updates to keep on doing what it's doing or do it better.

For the AS11's, they put two algorithms in one machine. For the AS10's they only have both algorithms only in the "For Her" version. So, an AS10 For Her is even a closer equivalent to the AS11.
I have no idea what its availability is.

Why are you threadcrapping? Im trying to find a CPAP machine. If you want to complain about a specific insurance company then please do go ahead and make a your own thread about an insurance company.

The answer was given.
Get on the phone, and keep bugging them.
Be a pest.
It works.
Either that, or order online, and use your own money.
When the network provider finally comes through,
you can use the one you bought as a back-up.
Everybody should have a back-up.
