Aerophagia
After switching to an Autoset for Her machine, I am having aerophagia so bad that I have to stop using the machine after a few hours. I've tried reducing max pressure, setting EPR to 3, and switching from the "for her" algorithm to apap but these haven't made a difference. I also set the starting pressure as low as I could without feeling air hunger. Two nights ago it went beyond an annoyance to seriously distressing abdominal pain and now I'm afraid to use it again.
I tried to get the data into Oscar so I could have a look at it but there seems to be a problem importing it. Maybe the SD card is too big? 64G was the smallest they had at Walmart. I can view the card in Windows explorer and see there is data on it, but it won't import.
I don't understand why the Airsense is giving me so much more trouble than my System One did? I went back to the System One last night and I realized I did have a small amount of bloating in the morning, maybe I haven't really noticed it before because it's so minor, but for some reason the Airsense is blowing me up like a pufferfish.
Anyway, I'm not really sure where to go from here. I feel like I'm between a rock and a hard place, I can't sleep without my cpap but now I can't sleep with it, either.

Re: Aerophagia
Import the data from the System One into OSCAR, then post your graph, make a not if you experienced Aerophagia.
We can then set the max on your AutoSet to the maximum your System was was achieving on nights where you weren't experiencing problems.
You can also consider setting the Response to Soft to see if that helps.

Re: Aerophagia
Oh, thanks. I've got to remember now how to post a graph. Are you saying, though, to set the max pressure on the Autoset to the pressure I've been maxing out at on the System One? I'm just looking back at my previous data now and under details it has pressure: min med 95% max. Looks like I never actually go up to the number that the machine's max is set to. Most nights I am maxing at 7.50. I noticed when I was looking at the data on the Autoset screen, it had me at 8.8 when I woke up.

Re: Aerophagia
Yes.
Let's say on your System One, during an evening where you don't experience aerophagia the maximum your pressure get to is 7.5. But on your ResMed at 8.8. your experiencing bad aerophagia, then your ResMed is achieving pressures that is triggering your aerophagia, that your System one wasn't getting to.
7.5 may not be low enough, but it's a good starting point.
Lowering your maximum may sacrifice some therapy, but when one is suffering from aerophagia, sometimes a compromise between addressing apneas and aerophagia must found.

Re: Aerophagia
dogslobber speaks with straight tongue. once we find that pressure combo that won't trigger aerophagia, we can start "inching" you upward. the very best thing about your resmed is that it can be increased in increments of .2 which will help a lot.
in what ds has named "the zonker protocol", we can slowly increase until it all comes together. you'll just have to put up with a higher ahi for awhile.
but let's get you going with no aerophagia first, then we'll dive into the protocol.

Follow dogslobber and zonker's advice for translating your System One settings.
Regarding the new SD card:ILoveFlowers wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 11:35 amthe SD card is too big? 64G was the smallest they had at Walmart. I can view the card in Windows explorer and see there is data on it, but it won't import.
BlueDragon wrote: ↑Sat Dec 19, 2020 10:25 pmIf I recall correctly, a ResMed machine will simply ignore a 64 GB card and write no data to the card.
The easiest solution is to delete the 64GB partition on the SD card, create a new 31GB partition, and format the partition as FAT-32. On Windows, you can do that from Disk Management.
Sure, you are giving up half the space on the card but it is never going to be used anyway on a CPAP machine. Even a 4GB card will hold years of data.

For SD cards Amazon has plenty of 16GB cards for a few dollars and is next day delivery with Prime.

Re: Aerophagia
It worked! That is the best night's sleep I have had since the whole recall thing started. Thank you so much! I was too tired to reformat the SD card last night so I did it today, I'll try it out tonight. If it doesn't work, I'll go the Amazon route. You guys rock!

Re: Aerophagia
As I'm working on easing the settings upwards, how long should I give each setting to get a feel for how it is working?

give it a couple of nights to be sure. at least, that's what i did.ILoveFlowers wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 10:41 pmAs I'm working on easing the settings upwards, how long should I give each setting to get a feel for how it is working?
now, obviously, if it has gotten WORSE, then feel free to back off of it, then come back to it the next night. this is why this process takes so bloody long.
good luck!

off topic, but it would help me out.
could you start using the quote feature? when you do that, i'll get a notification that you've quoted me and then i'll be able reply to you faster.
thank you.
